1  Sewing Machine Part CHALLENGE in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by mandamouse123 on: October 25, 2010 06:16:53 PM
Here's the story:  I have this machine I sort of stole from my mom.  Now, I know it's at least 23 years old, because she bought it before I was born.  The sewing machine is a Singer Athena 1200, if that makes any difference.  I have no clue what most of these feet/contraptions are, and google-ing just turns up people selling them.

I think the second row 4th one might be a 1/4 inch foot.  Can anyone help me identify these things?  I'd love to know what they are!

I GOT MY PACKAGE TODAY!  I can't believe it got here so fast!  ONTO the pictures!

yarnwranglerc sent teh bf and me shirts!  They say Very special agent anthony dinozzo! (puppy not included)

she also sent us knit hats in teh bf's favorite color, day glow orange!  He's really thrilled!  Both of us are runners, so these are going to be awesomely useful when it gets cold again. Smiley

A bag!  It's lovely and maroonish.  What's that on it, you say? Why here, take a closer look:

its quotes from ziva!  On the inside pockets are dinozzo quotes!  Very cool!

Finally, a deep six shrinky dink book mark and MY VERY OWN ZIVA ID BADGE!  I told yarnwrangler about my intentions for being ziva for halloween!

Thank you, yarnwrangler!  Everything is amazing! It's been wonderful being your partner, and teh bf says thank you as well!

I came back from the dentist today to find a lovely box on my front porch! No cavities and a box?! Great day!
Here's my box:  Pretty pretty tape!  Pretty pretty tape that didn't want to let the paper go, so I could get to the card hidden beneath it! Cheesy

This is what the top of my box said:

Happy Whimsy Day, indeed!

And when I opened it and pulled out all the tissue paper, I saw SESAME STREET!  Sweet! I LOVE the street sign.  I have big one just like it with my name on it!

In the open me box was this:

and this:

Both are perfect, by the way and exactly what I wanted!  I really like the dangly feather part Smiley  I'm going to ask one of my friends who likes to make jewelry if she can take in the necklace just a tad-- thank you so much for making it long enough that no matter what it would def. fit!

The other thing spazgirl made was this.  You can't really tell from the picture, but the paint is all swirly with different thicknesses to it. Very cool!  It's going on my shelf of whimsies for sure!

Underneath all that stuff was this:  A jewelry box!  I think in its previous life it was a steamer.

These were inside the lid: Shrinky-dinks!  Professor Layton and Luke, and GROVER! At this point, all was saying was, oh my! oh my!  Everything is so lovely and fantastic!

At this point I started sorting all the stuff.  I took a lot of pictures, but I don't want to post too many.  I'm just going to skip to the end where I show everything in all its glory. Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  You can see everything better if you look at the bigger version, so head on over to my flickr if you'd like to see more/this picture closer.  Tie-dye isn't the best background for photography.

I've been trying to guess what the hollow green plastic things are.  They look like salt and pepper shaker monster feet.  What are they really?  Am I right?  Other things include magnetic letters, foam sea creatures, wood pieces (pretty excited to paint these!), pressed marbles of all different colors, some teeny tiny tools, little doodad beady things that are kind of like charms, and a light bulb filled with beads!  Very cool, and very awesome.  Thank you so much, spazgirl!  It has been a great swap!  Now I just can't wait for you to get your box! Hopefully by tomorrow you'll get it.  And just ignore the part where I spelled your name wrong. Embarrassed  I had to laugh though.  Once you you get your box you'll see we sent each other some of the same things. Smiley

5  Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Plushies :) in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mandamouse123 on: January 09, 2008 07:44:15 PM
So.  I have this boyfriend.  And I stole his favorite shirt:

That, in addition to the fact that valentine's day is coming up plus the fact that starting friday, I'll be 2 1/2 hours away @ BU with no access to a sewing machine equals me making my own ninja turtle:

I somehow made his head a little crooked when I attached it to the poor dude's body, but I say it adds character!

But you have to admit, he looks pretty cute looking up at you!

I want to thank you, Chronicdoodler, for the pattern slash tutorial!  I loved making Raphael, and once the boyfriend gets him, I'm sure he'll thank you too! <3 <3 <3

6  Who knew I could sew? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mandamouse123 on: July 17, 2007 01:00:50 PM
So I started cutting fabric last night and it somehow turned into a pretty decent looking bag:

Here's Snicker's in an action shot.  The other side of the tote is just plain blue:

and the lining, with only one pen slot and a sunglass pocket.  On the other side is a pocket for my cell phone:

The lining took FOREVER. Something about thinking inside out is very hard for me.  When attaching the liner to the bag, I think I ripped the seams out twice before settling with what is in the picture, and I'm still not happy with it- you guys can't see it, but the back of the tote is kind of puckered where the outside of the bag was bigger than the lining.  When I cut the outside of the tote and the lining, I made them the same size.  Should I have made the lining slightly bigger because of the turning after sewing?

7  Gramy's Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by mandamouse123 on: July 10, 2007 02:26:29 PM
Pictures first, and then the story!

annnd some close up detail. Her stitches are so tiny!:

This quilt was made by my Gram.  I wanted to show off what she made!  According to her, it took her about a year and a half.  (She says it would of taken less time if she hadn't broken her foot halfway through making it.)   While she was working on it, each one of my three girl cousins told Grandma how beautiful the quilt was and asked if they could have it.  Gram somehow found out that my favorite color is purple, and gave it to me last week at my birthday party.  I absolutely love it, and BAWLED when she gave it to me.  So much love went into this purple quilt.   Pretty good for an 84 year old lady, no?

I've been trying to make a bear out of felt for my mom's birthday.

So it didn't turn out as planned, but the end result kind of looks like ET, doesn't it?  The picture is blurry, but its for everyone's benefit, believe me.  Your eyes wouldn't be able to cope with the monstrosity!  Grin Grin

9  Nameless Penguin Toy in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by mandamouse123 on: February 20, 2007 05:34:36 PM
I've been lurking here for a while, and I really love all the little toys people have made.  Inspired by these ones here on crafster, I made this little guy for a friend of mine, and here he is in all his glory.

If anyone would like the pattern, I'd be more than happy to share it.
