11  Re: Monster Ninni Swap Gallery (MAIL BY 6/13/11) in The Swap Gallery by Quinndustrious P. on: June 16, 2011 09:05:55 AM
Such wonderful Ninnis popping up all over this this gallery!
Speaking of which....I received from Fiddlegirl8 yesterday!!!

Ain't she beautiful? I don't know what to name her yet, maybe something simple like Daisy because that's what her colors remind me of. Such cute fabric she was made with!

And what, might you ask, is that bit of color in the top corner of the picture?
That, my friends, is matching mini-bunting!! Be jealous!

Thank you SO MUCH fiddlegirl8, I adore my ninni and her flags!  Grin

I received from Abbeyrd83 on Friday! And she spoiled me so much!

Not only did she make me these TWO adorable Ninnis:

(On the left is a Ninni made with owl fabric, and on the right is one made with fabric that abbeyrd83 said reminded her of a vintage kitchen--I love them both!)

but she also made amirugumis of two of my favorite animals!
A precious owl:

and this adorable whale:

I absolutely LOVE everything abbeyrd83 made for me, and had a bit of fun taking pictures of them in their "natural habitats" while I was camping this weekend!
THANK YOU ABBEYRD83!!! I'm sending your package today, I hope you love it just as much as I love mine!

13  Pushing Daisies--anyone interested in a swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by Quinndustrious P. on: June 07, 2011 07:06:41 AM
Are you dying for some Pushing Daisies crafts?
Have you been wishing for a bit of Chuck's wardrobe, or some pie- or bee-themed accessories?
Is anyone interested in a Pushing Daisies swap?

I saw there was a thread from a while back for a OTT Pushing Daisies swap, but it didn't look like it ever happened! Here are the galleries from the first two Pushing Daisies swaps:

R1 Gallery: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=231592.msg2524641#msg2524641
R2 Gallery: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=347517.0

I'd be happy with a swap of any size, I could even organize or co-organize as soon as my second swap finishes in a week!

So...anybody out there want in?

Finals are nearly over, can't wait to get started!

I'm a bit confused, though--I thought we were supposed to make a Wearable, and Accessory, and a Snack. What's this about an Activity?

Also, thought y'all might enjoy this:

15  Travelling Gnome Polaroids in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Quinndustrious P. on: March 25, 2011 04:31:18 PM
I normally don't post my paintings on craftster, but since I made these for the Amelie swap and I'm rather proud of them,
I thought they should go up!
Each is based on a polaroid Amelie sends her father of his garden gnome after kidnapping it.
I painted these guys on little canvases (I think 4 by 5 inches?) with gouache paints, and used micron pens to add black outlines where necessary.

Hope you like!

Get ready to be jealous, guys--here is my amazing package from rabid.dustbunny!

An ADORABLE embroidery of a happy artichoke--even an artichoke has a heart! The stitching is beautiful on this!
I'm putting it up in my craft room ASAP.

Two great little pillows decorated with the paintings in Amelie's bedroom!

A absolutely delightful little handsewn gnomie-friend--you can see how happy we are together! I love this little guy.

Some blue arrows to follow and a nice little embroidered scented sachet (Dustbunny, what's in this? It smells yummy!)

Some non-crafted paper-goods--a gorgeous little notebook, some bits of a Parisian map, and a poster from the movie!

And the whole package together:

It's all so perfect! Aren't I a lucky girl?
Thanks so much again, rabid.dustbunny! You were a joy to swap with!

And thanks to shylittlegoddess for organizing, this was such a fun first swap for me!

17  Fun with Hexagons! My first granny blanket in Crochet: Completed Projects by Quinndustrious P. on: February 13, 2011 07:09:16 PM
Hello guys!
This is my first post on the crochet board--
I learned to crochet last summer and made a huge striped blanket,
and this is my second ever project since then!
This was a Christmas present for my wonderful parents.
It's more of a lapghan than an afghan, haha, but they both fit underneath it while snuggling up to watch movies!

If I'm counting correctly it's got 65 granny hexagons total.
I used 5 different yarns for this blanket--

Simply Soft Autumn Red
Simply Soft Sage
Pound of Love Antique White
Homespun Sierra
Homespun Edwardian
(I'm not 100% positive these are the right names--I don't have the yarn labels with me, I just looked at the colorways online and picked which ones looked closest Smiley)
On to the pictures!

Here it is, stretched out on the floor--

A close-up--

And thrown over the comfiest chair in the house--

It's quite warm and comfy, I'm thinking about making one for myself!
Hope you enjoyed looking,
let me know what you think!

18  Max the Traveling Bat in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Quinndustrious P. on: October 02, 2010 10:29:39 AM
Hello all!
This is Maximilian, the fledermaus (bat), but you can call him Max.
Max is made from felted knitting, with embroidery floss glasses mouth and teeth, lil' button eyes, and of course, stuffing!
Being a German exchange student, he's traveled the globe (Not really, it's just part of his character, heehee), but here he
is, getting ready for his big trip to Massachusetts, to stay with my boyfriend who goes to school there.

His suitcase is a painted Altoids box, with a leather handle and fabric hot glued inside.
It's decorated with "stickers" (really just painted paper glued on) to show his travels!

And course he brought his favorite toys and some chocolate treats along for his travels!

Thanks for looking!
(Max loves comments!) Wink

19  Any ideas for this dress bodice? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Quinndustrious P. on: June 21, 2010 02:48:53 PM
This dress from modcloth has a pretty basic looking skirt, but the bodice (especially the back!) has got me stumped.
Does anyone know of a pattern with a tie back like that, or have any tips? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

20  First Embroidery in Ages: A Gramophone(4pics)! in Needlework: Completed Projects by Quinndustrious P. on: March 07, 2010 10:24:10 AM
Hello all!
Now, I don't consider myself an embroiderer at all--I learned when I was young, did a few sloppy projects, and dropped it. Now I'm 18 and ready to give it another try!  Grin   I don't even pretend to know proper stitches, and things like french knots and all those other wonderful techniques I've seen on here scare me to death, but I decided to give it a go and embroider this gramophone on a pillowcase.

Sorry for the poor picture, I got too impatient to wait for natural lighting!

detail shot to show the colors a bit more accurately...

and finally the little record in its case on the ground (secret: i was not planning on putting it there, but then accidentally ripped a heinous hole in the fabric and had to patch it up!)

The results? I'm pretty happy with it! I gave it to my boyfriend for Christmas, and he really likes it.
I'm definitely feeling more motivated to learn how to embroider properly now--checked a book out of the library and am looking forward to doing some more projects!
Thanks for looking, tell me what you think!
