1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitting Jokes on: October 08, 2007 03:58:03 PM
Alright, so this isn't a knitting project, but my grandma emailed this to me, and it cracked me up.  Cheesy

A highway patrolman pulled alongside
a speeding car on the freeway.
Glancing at the car, he was astounded to see that the blonde behind the wheel was knitting!

Realizing that she was
oblivious to his flashing lights and siren, the trooper cranked down his window, turned on his bullhorn and yelled, "PULL OVER!"

"NO!" the blonde yelled back, "IT'S A SCARF!"

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Plus Size Designers need common sense! Sleeves... on: August 25, 2007 02:39:35 PM
I have this shirt, it's a size 2x, and it's really cute.
One problem...the sleeves.
Let me show you this shirt as an example:

See those sleeves? Subtract about an inch and a half, and there's the length of the sleeves on my shirt.
I would like to think that plus size women's clothes are actually designed by plus size women, but wouldn't they know that I DO NOT WANT TO SHOW OFF MY JIGGLY ARM FAT, NOR DO PEOPLE WANT TO SEE IT? Why do that to a perfectly adorable shirt that would look great with sleeves about 5" longer?

So, does anyone have any ideas on how I could adjust those sleeves?
I can post a picture of the shirt if I need to.
6  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Diet Recipe Swap - 1 Angel FOUND! on: August 23, 2007 05:19:39 PM
Diet Recipe Swap

Stargazersewer's partner dropped out after it was too late to rearrange partners. If you would like to be an angel, please PM me. No packages were sent out, so whoever angels will be receiving a package from stargazersewer!
This isn't a typical angel, so I don't think you can do this to reverse negative feedback, since you will also be receiving a package.

Thanks to anyone that's willing to help!

Angel found!
7  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Blocking Encore DK? on: August 20, 2007 06:39:43 PM
I've never blocked anything before, and I'm terrified! I'm nowhere near being to that point yet, I haven't even started my sweater, but I'm so paranoid that I'm going to ruin it.

I have heard that you do not need to block acrylic yarn, but this is 75% acrylic and 25% wool. Does this require blocking? I've also heard that any knit wearable needs blocked.

Help, please!  Huh
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help! Changing pattern when you change gauge on: August 12, 2007 11:52:53 AM
Ok, well I'm making Kap, but I'm using a yarn that's way thicker than what is called for. I found the gauge and everything fine. I know I need to cast on 72 sts instead of 80,  but I have no idea how to change the whole pattern for that.

Like in the first row, it says:
Row 1 (RS):  P1, (k1, p12) 6 times, p1

I tried changing how many times you repeat the k1, p12, but I can't get any number to equal 72!

Is this impossible to change, or am I just having a brain lapse?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / ATTN: Anyone who has knitted the House Sweater from Charmed Knits! on: August 07, 2007 10:50:20 AM
What yarn did you use?

If I use the recommended yarn it will cost nearly $150! I need a cheaper version. Even a wool blend will be fine, just please help!
