31  Cute toile dress (new update! 8-13-07) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by nemejia on: May 02, 2007 02:53:48 PM
Here's my latest creation for my little sweet pea. It's got brown crochet trim along the bottom and on the straps. I think I'l use it for her 1 year pictures next week.

It's Made from 2 cloth napkins that I got on clearance for like $0.60.
The awesome thing is that I went back to the store (it's closing) and I found the matching tablecloth ($3.00) so I can make a dress for myself

some of you wanted me to update you when I finshed MY dress. Well it's done! check it out:

Ok I have actually made some play things for my son (just turned 3 march 22). I just have to get around to taking pictures!! (ok I decided to not be lazy and take pics!)

First I made my first crocheted project, a bird amigurumi (sp?) He loves to throw it around and make it "fly". I still need to add the mouth/beak and eyes

Then for his birthday I made him a felt rocket stuffy

I also made him a rabbit hat (for pretend play)

Here's an action shot

oh yeah... I made him some fake amusement park tickets too!

His favorite book right now is called Little Rabbit lost http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/0141381353.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_V46900494_AA240_.jpg
It's about a little rabbit who gets to go to an amusement park for his birthday. So we took our son to Dollywood this last weekend. He had a blast! He loved his hat so much he wore it all day, oh and we got him a red balloon for the day too!

I LOVE this dress
http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6678/73112natfrtoi2.th.jpg  but at $200 I can forget about it. my husband would never let me spend that kind of cash on a dress. I also find it a little too revealing for my taste sooo... I like this dress too

I think this will end up being a mixture of the 2 but it will have designs like the first one and be as close to it as possible while adding sleeves. I also found this simplicity pattern which I will alter a bithttp://www.simplicity.com/dv1_v4.cfm?design=3780

I guess this could double for march as well as june (something to cuddle)

I think it turned out so cute... it's a little bath robe but it looks like a little dress when it's on. The last pic shows some of the decorative embroidery i added (you can't really see it in the picture)

Oh yeah, and I made that dress form - thanks to my 3 year old son who had to be bribed with a "long" movie.

Did I mention I'm new to crafster? I think there are so many great tutorials and inspirations around here  Grin

Here's another dress I made.

Here's a close up of the kanzashi flower pin

I can't decide how I want to attach the straps to the dress. 2 straight up and over, 2 criss-crossed, or a "v" strap like a halter top. What do you think? This is for my daughter and it probably won't fit until she is 1. Then as she grows the length will get shorter and eventually fit as a top. Oh yeah I forgot to add it in the picture but there is an optional sash the same color material as the flower. Opinions please!!?

Ok here I am ready to post pics of the outfit I made for my daughter.

Onesie/t-shirt dress with matching sash/hairwrap and pair of pants:

You can't see the pants very well, I'll try to take another pic. The outfit is a bit large on her. The pants were my first ever clothing project. I used a pattern for those. The dress was a combination of reading several different tutorials and looking at a few on ebay. No pattern was used.

Boy Pants girly-fied:

These were a pair of boy pants that belonged to my son. I was too lazy to sew so I used fabric glue to add some leftover fabric (from the dress) to the inside of the pants so that it shows when you fold over the cuffs. The belt is the sash from the dress. The pictures where taken today and I couldn't find a matching shirt in her dresser so i took a plain onesie and added the heart using heat-n-bond. I'll sew it on permanently when I get the chance.
