1  COOKING / Dessert / Mardi Gras themed cake on: September 29, 2008 02:44:32 PM
My group and I from my college Culinary class entered this cake for a "food as art" competition for a local food festival. We didn't place- we were going up against head pastry chefs and bakers and there was some pretty amazing stuff.

But none of us had ever worked with fondant before and we're all really proud of it. I let them handle the baking of the cakes and everything, but I pretty much studied up on how to work with fondant. I think next time I'll try making it myself instead of using the store bought fondant because it really doesn't taste that great.

The stars are little molded chocolates.

I can take full credit for the roses :]

I think I'm going to really start baking- I thoroghly enjoyed it.

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Mallisa's 1st Resin (Plus a couple others) **LARGE Images** on: March 07, 2007 09:25:17 PM
In the end I actually had some of the resin mixture left over so i was just trying to find something to put in it. It came out a lot nicer than i thought it would.

Close-up of the pendant:

My 1st bead wrapping project:

A random pendant I made. I'm not crazy about the shortest dangle. I'll probably take it off before I put it on a chain.

Comments/Suggestions please!

P.S.  Sorry for the huge pics!
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / beaded creatures ;o) on: March 01, 2007 09:41:28 PM
originally i was just playing around with wire and beads and what i came up with started to look like it could be a dragonfly. i didnt spend very much time on the dragonfly- therefore it isnt very detailed or anything. i may make a larger one that looks a little more realistic.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / i was inspired by the other seahorse poster on: November 23, 2006 08:08:02 PM
i saw the post with the seahorse charms and really loved them. i saw these charms and had to use them =)

im not sure where the other earring went in this pic but i did make two. haha.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Circle Scrap Purse? on: May 28, 2006 10:47:52 PM
I decided to put this in the RECON boards because of all the scraps for one thing. The lining came from a dress, and the straps were from another, ugly bag.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Opposite Matchy Bags on: May 28, 2006 05:02:49 PM
my friend wanted me to make her a bag, and i decided to make one for myself as well. as you can see we went shopping together. hopefully i did not overdo it. it only looks overdone when both bags are side by side.

excuse the mess. a crafter's closet is never clean!

im only posting a pic of the inside of the smaller one because the other does not have a pocket.
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Stencil Adhesive on: April 11, 2006 10:22:41 AM
There is a better way to keep your stencils sticking to your fabric (or other happy medium Wink) than tape. Get a spray can of stencil adhesive. I think it is probably meant for walls, but it works just fine on clothing. Just don't spray too much or leave it on for way long. It works great for me.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Halloween Goodie Bags on: October 13, 2005 07:48:33 PM
So I made these cute little drawstring bags for the seniors on colorguard at my school for senior night. Senior night is right around Halloween so I thought that these would be appropriate.

There are four of each print.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Embroidered Robot Tote on: September 24, 2005 12:09:00 PM
The robot is actually purple, black and white. In the pic you can't really tell the difference between the purple and black.

The lining is actually more purple than it looks. It matches the purple embroidery thread. Yay for Walmart remnant bins.
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / makeup bag makeover. on: September 22, 2005 02:15:39 PM

I just used embroidery thread and tiny beads.

The first pic is actually just the other side because I forgot to take a before pic of that side. Not that it really matters.
