1  Mardi Gras themed cake in Dessert by muahtimespi on: September 29, 2008 02:44:32 PM
My group and I from my college Culinary class entered this cake for a "food as art" competition for a local food festival. We didn't place- we were going up against head pastry chefs and bakers and there was some pretty amazing stuff.

But none of us had ever worked with fondant before and we're all really proud of it. I let them handle the baking of the cakes and everything, but I pretty much studied up on how to work with fondant. I think next time I'll try making it myself instead of using the store bought fondant because it really doesn't taste that great.

The stars are little molded chocolates.

I can take full credit for the roses :]

I think I'm going to really start baking- I thoroghly enjoyed it.

2  beaded creatures ;o) in Beads: Completed Projects by muahtimespi on: March 01, 2007 09:41:28 PM
originally i was just playing around with wire and beads and what i came up with started to look like it could be a dragonfly. i didnt spend very much time on the dragonfly- therefore it isnt very detailed or anything. i may make a larger one that looks a little more realistic.

4  Circle Scrap Purse? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by muahtimespi on: May 28, 2006 10:47:52 PM
I decided to put this in the RECON boards because of all the scraps for one thing. The lining came from a dress, and the straps were from another, ugly bag.

my friend wanted me to make her a bag, and i decided to make one for myself as well. as you can see we went shopping together. hopefully i did not overdo it. it only looks overdone when both bags are side by side.

excuse the mess. a crafter's closet is never clean!

im only posting a pic of the inside of the smaller one because the other does not have a pocket.

The pics make the fabric look almost orange, but it's much brighter in person.

7  Itty Bitty Turtle Tote =D in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by muahtimespi on: September 14, 2005 07:46:18 PM
So I was just sitting around embroidering a turtle watching Laguna Beach (addiction) when I realized the scrap of fabric I was using was actually big enough to make a tiny bag. So, I did. And... Here it is. Enjoy =)

Yes, thats a pineapple.

Mr. Blue Eyed Turtle himself.

And the pretty purple paisley lining.

The End.

8  2 new bags. one "mini duffle" and a tote. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by muahtimespi on: September 13, 2005 05:47:10 PM
So, I tried the mini duffle bag tutorial. I didn't do so hot. I had trouble with the circles on the end and the zipper. This is my first bag with a zipper so gimme some credit =). Any tips on how to attatch the circles to the ends? the circles seemed like they didnt want to fit really...

close up of the embroidered flower. its one of the only things i can embroider so far so im getting pretty good at it.

thats how i attatched the zipper. im embarassed  Embarrassed

And heres just a cute simple tote. Again with the flowers.

the picture quality made the embroidery look a little funky. i promise it looks better in person.

the lining and pocket.

9  free? birds? mismatched fabric? UGLY!!! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by muahtimespi on: September 11, 2005 05:28:38 PM
This purse was made out of extra fabrics I had laying around. It was basically just an excuse to practice my embroidering. I dont like the way it turned out at all, but it took forever so I figured I would post it anywway.

10  cross my heart in Needlework: Completed Projects by muahtimespi on: September 10, 2005 01:24:02 PM
Hey guys. I was afraid to post this for fear of being laughed off craftster, but I figured, "How am I supposed to get constructive critisism if I don't?". My first embroidery ever, and I have no clue what I'm doing.

Gimme some tips y'all.
