21  Re: Ongoing Wish Swap 69 gallery in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by YumJello01 on: May 18, 2011 07:14:05 PM
I also received from StephanieGravatt, my fave NYC-lover!

She claimed me for a wisty surprise, and she totally surprised me!  I never guessed what she was making me!

She made me the hiding kitty bag!  I've had this guy on my wist forever...I love him so!  He is the perfect size, with that big front pocket, to be my "project bag" now that I am going to learn to crochet - so well-timed, it's great!

BF decided we needed a picture of the cat wearing the bag like a cape...so here it is:

Thank you StephanieGravatt!

Okay, I'm sorry for being such a lame-o and not posting pics, but I have gotten three great packages in the mail in the last week!

First off, DesignVigilante claimed me for a learn to crochet kit!

She emailed me insanely detailed PDF instructions with tons of pictures and reading recommendations and a glossary...two samples of the stitches she taught me with the instructions, hot pink yarn that is SO me, a crochet hook, and she also made me a (I don't know what we're calling these) slouchy tobogan you can pull your ponytail through off my wist!  (I can never have too many of these, AND the colors match the gloves BF bought me, so it's perfect for next winter!)

Thank you DesignVigilante!!!

Yeah, I haven't even looked at my group yet, LoL, I started a new job on Monday, I believe I said that already....it's kind of a pain in the ass, but LOOK what I got!

It's the entire Benjamin Moore collection.  There's 2000 colors in here!

Next to a market paperback for scale.

Just so you know, I got two.  I only need one, 2000 inchies is a lifetime.  Just so you know....*achem*  Grin Grin Grin

It occurs to me as I'm cleaning out files on my computer that the stuff I made never got posted here.

I sent Oy, as posted before:

And I also made her two shirts.

A white tank top:

And then I made this one up on my own, see if you get it:

If he ever does put out that next book, we should have another one of these!

26  Birds on a wire + extra card in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by YumJello01 on: April 27, 2011 08:23:04 PM
I think this is technically more paper craft than regular art...if not, please let me know and I'll move it!

Also, my first real project post on craftster!

I made this for mimiw in the Ongoing Wish Swap, based on a pillowcase on her wist/her general love of blue, green, and birds.

Using watercolors (which I really am not very good at) I mixed up a sheet of watercolor paper with all the blues and greens in my little pallet.

Then I made a template of a bird, and traced out approximately a bajillion of them

Then I cut them out by hand.  The way they dried, they were looking....dusty.  So I put a coat of gloss medium on each of them, and happily this brought out the nuances between the colors a lot better!

Drew the wires on a canvas board with a sharpie, and used tacky glue to attach them, I figured it would work better than mod podge on the canvas.

With the leftover bit of colored paper, and one of the birds, I made the card I sent with the package as well.

C&C ABSOLUTELY welcome, this is one of the first projects I've done where I felt like what it looked like in my head is actually what it looks like finished.

Oh, PS, it took all of my willpower not to add glitter to the gloss medium.  I think I'll make one for me now, in pinks and purples, with glitter.  Everything looks better with glitter, right?

I made it to the Post Office on Friday to pick up my package from fishstix43, but I refused to get out of my PJs all weekend, heh, so here now are pics!

She claimed me for a T-shirt hoodie, and I love it!  It's so sporty, I think I'll wear it bowling next week.

Please excuse my weird hands.  And face.  I could not pull off a not weird picture tonight.

(you can see two of our shelves of brain slugs in the background, most supplied from OWS packages!)

She also sent me ribbon, jewelry supplies (pendent and ring blanks and just in time for the weather to be right for resin crafting again!!!) and a bag of whimsies!  I'll update tomorrow with an un-bagged and sorted pic of the whimsies, I do know there are KEYS!!! and beads and other fun things in there!

Thank you fishstix43!  I loved my package!

Ladies, I need your opinion.  I took a box of table skirt samples from work before I quit.  Seemed like there was some cool stuff there.
This is only the top of the box:

There's a lot of these samples, showing the different ways the table skirts can be made..

For some reason they're velcroed on top, I guess for their displays...

There are even a couple of full table skirts...both the top and bottom could be useful...

There's even this cute little one that I thought could be turned into a girl's skirt

The problem is, it's all POLYESTER.  'Cause it's for restaurant use.  I don't sew, so I honestly have no idea if anyone would want anything like this, you all seem to put knit/cotton fabrics on your lists, so what do you all think?  Should I just chuck it?

30  Re: Beginners inchie swap gallery (send out by 16th Feb) in The Swap Gallery by YumJello01 on: February 02, 2011 06:50:06 PM
I got my inchies from Nilmerg the other day...now FINALLY (bad co-organizer), here are pics!

I just love 'em.  And you can see the extra she sent me, cross-stitch Gir!  Gir, Elaine, is an alien robot dressed in a dog costume.   Grin

It's hard to pick faves, but I love the vampire mouth, the triptychs, and honestly, I think my favorite favorite is the zen tangle stars and hearts one, top right in the third pic.  And for the totally unconventional, she cross-stitched a J on that final inchie!  LOVE!

Thank you nilmerg for a great set of inchies, and of course for organizing this swap!

PS - I will totally be replacing these pics with better one this weekend.  Ah, to be able to take pics with natural light...
