Thank you!  I'm really happy with the way it turned out in the end.

Bluebell is FINISHED!!!  I call her bluebell from hell because this project was FROM HELL!  I was a total maniac!  It was one thing after another - I even lost my yarn at one point.  Lol.  So, I'm happy it's done.  Blocking worked miracles!

I used the same cascade 200 tweed from the book and it took up four skeins, I fiddled with the sizing a bit, but it was essentially just the small size.  I go into every inane detail on my blog if you just can't get enough bluebell from hell war stories: http://spicyknitter.blogspot.com/2007/12/fo-bluebell.html
13  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: purling front and back? on: November 27, 2007 06:08:07 PM
Thanks very much!  That was just what I needed.  I looked on knitting help before posting and I couldn't find the instructions... it just goes to show how helpful it is to have a second set of eyes on the job.

I'm back on track.

I'm just wondering if there is a "correct" way to purl into the front and back of a stitch.

How exactly does one purl the back of a stitch?  I've been knitting for years and always just fudge my way through this one, but now I'm working on a pattern that uses this stitch a lot and my work is looking messy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated... especially if anyone can recommend pictures or videos to illustrate.

I have been on a Craftster hiatus for a while, but I thought I'd post my progress on Bluebell.  I've got all the knitting done!  Just need to seam and block.  Here's a pic:

The shape is TOTALLY wonky.  If it doesn't block out as I hoped I'm going to be very disappointed about all the time I have wasted!  But, I have a lof faith in the miracles of blocking... so wish me luck.

Yeah, I usually knit while I watch TV in evenings and that keeps my hands occupied so I can't snack.

Yay for cats!!  Yours is much better behaved than mine.... of course, mine is 2.  Practically still a kitten. Smiley

The first thing I thought when I saw this is "she doesn't have a cat..."  ha ha.  I practically have to keep my yarn under lock and key.

I'm jelaous!  Pretty pretty!

I think I will end up finally joining you guys here prety soon. The other night in an attempt to stash bust I got a bunch of random yarn of somewhat similar size, cut them into random sized pieces, tied them all together, and wound up the result on my skein-winder. I think I read about the random yarn thing on a website once. Hopefully it will make the process less tedious...if it works at all.

I'm excited to see this!  Sounds cool.

Here's a pic of mine from behind, if that helps you make a decision on shoulder shaping.  (Really, I just wanted an excuse to pull her out of the closet, seeing as it's still god-awful hot here!)
