11  My first earrings! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by peps on: June 28, 2007 02:19:03 PM
This week I made my first beaded earrings.  I used a kit that makes four pairs.  I followed the instructions exactly, not much creativity involved, but I am happy that I got a chance to learn how to use the tools and how all the pieces fit together.  Now I can go on a bead buying spree and create my own!

The group shot:

12  Re: [May-June theme:Lace! see pg1] The Beginner's Top-Down Raglan (patt. include in Knitalongs by peps on: June 19, 2007 02:32:02 PM
Progress Pics:

I'm starting the ribbing on the bottom now - I can't decide if I will do another two inches or a one-inch rib.  Thoughts?

Also, I started the grey rib immediately after the pink stripe and it looked pretty nasty and jagged with the color  pattern change.  Has anyone else run into this?  I unknitted it all and I think I will do another row of plain knits then start the rib.

Here's a pic of my progress so far (if you don't mind a little skin).  I'm using Caron Simply soft and size 7 needles.

I've actually finished the pink stripe and done half of another grey stripe.  It's going to end up being really long because to keep the pattern I'm going to have to do another pink and then the grey ribbing.  Oh well.

Also, I finally freed up my interchangeable needles (Boye needlemaster) from another project and it makes trying on the raglan a dream!  You just screw off one of the needles and attach another cord to it to make your circ super long - no stitch transferring whatsoever!! Yay!

14  Re: All pig lovers, check this out! :) in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by peps on: June 10, 2007 03:07:33 PM
So, it's only taken me a few months to finish this thing... but here is my version of the piggy.  I call him "pig from hell" because I had a hell of a time with it!!

And here's a profile:

All in all, I don't think he turned out so bad for my first amigurimi and one of my first crochet projects.  I think next time I make him I will do a ten times better job with all I learned from this little guy!

Thanks for looking!  More details on my blog:

15  Re: Newbies Only Swap Round 4 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by peps on: June 03, 2007 07:58:59 PM
Hooray!  I got my box from the_dez yesterday!  It fatefully arrived at the same time my new digital camera arrived, so I was extra excited to  snap these pics!

First thing out was this awesome reconstructed halter top!  It is so super sexy - I immediately put it on and wore it to my birthday party last night.

Here's a sexy back shot.  The little slogan block is handstitched on.

Then there was a darling little hello kitty tin (not pictured) with this cute headband with a flower on it - so cute!

Also in the tin was this cool beaded choker.  The star beads are actually paper!   How cool is that?  Love it!

And then she sent the following cute postcard and comic book notecard with matching envelope so I can keep in touch with my friends when I move back to Boston this summer.

Hooray!  Thank you dez!!

16  My Chinese Charm Bag in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by peps on: May 29, 2007 08:20:51 PM
Here are some pics of the chinese charm bag I just finished.  I've been wanting to make this since S&B first came out, but I never really got around to it until I decided to make this one for my swap partner.  I'm in love with the way it turned out!  I used 1.5 skeins of Moda Dea cache and it gave the bag a nice gleam.  I just got the charm at the craft store, it was a pendant for a necklace - and I liked it hanging better than sewn on.  Then the lining fabric is a really pretty brocade, but it was such a pain to work with because it kept fraying.  So, without further ado, the pics:

The bag:

Update:  It's all fixed! (The look on my face should be happier, although at least this one reflects my exhaustion...)

Without further ado... here is my Mrs. Darcy:

That's sort of a strange look on my face... can't say why.

19  If Mrs. Darcy was missing a hand... in Stitch And BOTCH by peps on: May 11, 2007 01:42:05 PM
I have been knitting the fabulous Mrs. Darcy cardigan by indieknitter for weeks and I just finished it up last night only to find out that one sleeve was about 6 inches shorter than the other!  D'oh!

Here is a picture of me looking sad:
