1  Re: tote with one long and one short handle in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions by estaki on: January 07, 2008 02:47:25 PM
ok getting back on topic here are my versions of the bag from the BHG magazine....oh and I found my original copy in a place I'd never think to look...
First one made in Denyse Schmidt Flea Market Fancy Fabrics and in the size the pattern suggested. Second one made from stuff I had lying around and made in a smaller size to what was suggested. Both were xmas presents for friends who loved them...

2  Jeans to skirt - first ever recon now with actual pics!!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by estaki on: September 23, 2007 07:28:14 PM
I had an ill fitting wide leg pair of levi's that had such a short crotch (even for me) that I always had a wedgie so I used the Simplicity website guidelines to change them into a skirt...voila

Here are the offending jeans:

And the skirt:

Have now fixed the picture posting problems I had earlier Yah!

3  Re: Tutorial: The Sha Sha Dream Bag ~sew cute~ in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by estaki on: September 23, 2007 07:02:48 PM
I made this on the weekend. So easy and the tutorial is hilarious - the ass end of the bag LOL!!!!

I used chocolate brown cord and a white fabric with chocolate swirls for the lining. My interfacing was probably a little too heavy for use with cord but would be ok for a finer fabric - I am going to make more! But I think I will also double the dimensions and try to make a bigger one too..

Thanks so much for this - it truely is 'sew cute'!!!!

EDIT: this is my third attempt to post actual pics - lets see if it works...

4  Flower Pin in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by estaki on: August 29, 2007 11:06:17 PM
Hi all
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I made this flower pin early this morning when I couldn't sleep. Its from the Amy Butler Madison Bags pattern and its the small flower. I only took a photo of the front but the other side of the petals has red fabric with small white spots on it.

EDIT:ooooohhhh for some reason my picture isn't showing up so I have put the link for the page in as well.

5  shoe card in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by estaki on: May 24, 2007 07:03:27 PM
I've been making cards for years but have never photographed them. But I was so taken by my recent effort for a friend's 21st birthday that I almost couldn't give it to her.

I love the designs of Christopher Vine http://www.cvd.com.au/but didn't want to duplicate his cards directly. So I searched for a useable clipart of a fancy shoe and came up with a template to make

Sorry for the crappy phone camera shot. I bought so many nice papers (for my scrapbooking stash I never use) that I thought I should make more cards rather than paying $4-5 per card!

6  I made this cute clutch! Not bad for a first attempt in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by estaki on: May 21, 2007 09:40:32 PM
This is my first attempt at making a bag. I used this pattern http://www.kwiksew.com/Projects/P5001/5001.cfm
which is free to download. I elected not to use the piping in this project because I'm still not sure the best way to go about making it but I will put it in the next one. The only problem I came across is that the darts on the pattern seem too small on the actual bag. I little bit of creative pressing with the steam iron and I think it looks ok. I used it at a birthday party last weekend and got lots of comments Smiley

Please ignore my dodgy handstitching in the second photo - I was in a rush to finish it and use it!

What do you think?

Here are the url's if the picture links don't work or are only thumbnail size!

7  I'm new in Beads: Completed Projects by estaki on: February 04, 2007 08:30:56 PM
Hi there
I'm a new forum member from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Came to this site by way of lupinbunny's blog.

I thought I would share some earrings I made. Made them for a wedding in Nov 2006 in which I was wearing a black dress so I wanted some colour in my jewellery. Here are the finished earrings
and here is me wearing them (with my brother in the pic also) at the wedding
