1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making my black boots brown.... on: June 24, 2010 11:26:35 AM
There is a colour for leather which is already died. I know two brands, you can try googling them:
Cova Color or Fiebings Acrylic Dye for leather. The only source I have is in Germany unfortunately but there will be sources online for sure. Hope this helps.

4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Re: Colours, colours, colours. What's best with red hair/blue eyes? on: October 02, 2009 02:09:48 PM
You can try googling Barbara Meier, she won Germany's Next Topmodel two years ago and has about your hair colour. She was on the cover of the Cosmopolitan in Germany in a purple dress and looked stunning. There are more pictures of her in other dresses in other colours too, maybe this is a help.
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Gothic Arch Fetish on: August 09, 2009 02:27:36 AM
These rounded arches are called horseshoe, when they look like onion domes they are called ogee. At least that is what my architectural dictionary says. I use the book "Baustilkunde" by Wilfired Koch, which is the German standard book on architectural styles, (I studied art history in Germany) unfortunately amazon.com only has a German version which is quite expensive. But the book has great illustrations and translations to English, Italian, French and Spanish.

Hope, this helps.
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Does anyone know the characters on this fabric? - MANGA. on: June 28, 2008 03:46:21 PM
It's "Heidi", a character from a Swiss childrens story. The book was written by Johanna Spyri in 1880. This version of the main character, a young girl named heidi is from the Japanese Anime from the 70's. It's an extremely popular story in Germany. There is an article about Heidi in wikipedia if you are interested in the story.

You could try craft foam. It is very light and can be spray painted silver. For the tube parts try this foam you use for insulation of pipes. It  already has this tube form.

9  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #25 - Represent Your Hometown - Due Mar 1 - Mar 5 2008 on: February 06, 2008 01:39:03 AM
Im from Kiel in northern Germany. There is nothing really fancy here, as the town was nearly completely destroyed in WWII. But the ferries to Sweden, Norway and Lithuania start from our harbour. Apart from that, our local dockyard (HDW) is said to build the worlds best military submarines. I have no clue about submarines. The gyrocompass was invented here. Lots of stuff about boats and ships.

Maybe I choose my hometown, Ploen, which is about 30 minutes away. We have a beautiful castle on a hill above a lake. Ill have to start thinking...

Is there any possibility to get one of these shirts in Germany? There is a German spreadshirt site but I coludn't find the design. I really want one but shipping from the US is no option really.
