5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Cat Pillow for DD on: February 11, 2009 04:15:53 PM
Dd made herself a pillow a few months ago and it recently ripped apart.  In order to make her feel better about it and to not give up on sewing, I made her a cat pillow in a few minutes.  The main cat on the cat fabric looks like her cat, Lumpy.  The green back fabric is velvety and soft!  I had bought the cat fabric on sale for an ottoman in her room (that used to be little mermaid because she has had it since she was 3 y/o) - so it already matches her newer decor!  The green was a steal for $0.50 for 2 1/2 yards at the thrift store that I already used to make a messanger bag interior!  Stuffed with generic stuffing pulled out of old stuffed animals and her pillow that had ripped.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Western Bagsket on: October 14, 2007 10:55:24 PM
tute from  http://foofanagle.wordpress.com/2007/06/26/bagsket-tutorial/
It's for my mom for christmas (she lives on a boat and is in FL. and hates when all of her family out here in Wyoming and Colorado sends her sea and shell stuff when she really wants western stuff!)...

I have loved the pattern since I first saw it, but thought it was "out of my league" until today I decided I could handle it and here it is!!
The shape is better in person, the fabric I placed inside to hold it's shape for the camera made it look a little wonky, I used the same brown fabric inside as the 'outside' of the pockets and the same red as the 'inside' of the inside pockets...
I plan on getting a black ribbon for the drawstring instead of the shoelace I am using here!!
P.S. the desk really deserves it's own post as I remade an old brown desk to have a beachy feel with maps and jimmy buffett stuff on it, I used a lot of mod podge and resin to make this awesome sewing desk!!
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Corsages & buttoniers help please on: August 29, 2007 01:23:49 PM
My friend is getting married in 4 days and has sprung a new project on my other friend (the maid of honor) so tonight I got wrangled into helping making 4 corsages and 4 buttoniers, my question is the glueing process, we made one using hot glue to glue the plastic rose stems together with the leaves and other plastic floral stuff (it's for the grandparents and one of them is allergic to real flowers so all the grandparents get plastic flowers!) and we want to wrap the eintire bottom with this satiny type ribbon, the hot glue allowed us to tack on the ribbon and wrap it but it needs something to glue the end of the ribbon down that will hold nicely and will also not ruin the appearance of the ribbon.  I thought of spraying with ribbon with spray adhesive and then wrapping it around but the spray glue is a huge mess and might seep through to change the ribbon color (it's an ivory color) I tought of just hot glueing the edge down but it gave it a lumpy appearence when we tried it, I have tacky glue that I think will work nicely but I am not sure I want to ruin another bit of ribbon without getting some ideas from al you awesome people that have done your weddings.

I love these guys... (and I am not being paid to say so, I don't know them!)
I have used many of their video tutorials and I was so excited to see some craftster stuff promoted on their site!!
I am fairly new to all of this (well, I have always been crafty, new at putting it all out online....)
and I am sure most of you have seen them, but I wanted to post a good review for them so they keep coming back!
I love youtube for giving me this kind of stuff!!
