1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Naturally my first puppy needed his own cool bed! on: January 12, 2013 05:02:52 PM
And not just any bed from the store would do. I knew I wanted it to be like a large floor pillow, it seemed most comfortable for a larger breed dog. I thought about the fleece tie blankets and figured I could put stuffing inside one and wah-la, pillow. Since it is for a puppy who will probably be very curious I knew he would find the fuzz if I left it at though so I also put stitching all around it right underneath the knotting. It turned out very lovely and professional looking. The underside which I did not take a picture of is just a solid dark gray. I am betting that the fringe will be used as a toy which is fine by me, dual purpose. This one is about two and a half feet long by two feet wide. When he either gets bigger or tears this one up I will make him another bigger one. Smiley Enjoy!

I get to go pick this little guy up on the 20th, friends of craftster, meet Malfoy! Named after Draco Malfoy it seemed fitting for him to have this fabric for his bed, I also picked him up a doggie toy that is a stuffed dragon!

Please excuse all the unnecessary puppy information, I am 21 and was never allowed a puppy. I moved out and the very first thing I did was find him. He has everything I wanted in the breed (Siberian Husky) he has the red and white fur combo that I find adorable, blue eyes, and an evil looking mask.

Edit: Since posting this I also made a leash, I didn't know where would be the best place to post it so I am adding it here and hopefully someone can point me in a better direction for future things of this nature. Smiley

I almost bought a leash and harness set made from ACU fabric off of etsy. I had never made a harness and didn't want to make it and Malfoy break it and run away so I felt it was best to get it from someone with practice. The leash I almost got but realized I had all the things I needed to go ahead and give it a go myself. It was really easy. It was just like making straps for a purse. Instead of a traditional hook I chose to use a climbing hook, I thought it went with the military theme a lot better.
2  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / The three year drawing on: September 10, 2012 05:32:09 AM
Some background information, I began this drawing out of nowhere on January 22nd, 2009. After I filled about 45% of the page (All I really did was the lion) I stopped. I had clocked 12 solid hours of work on this before I finally put it away. After seeing it daily for the last three years, I never knew how to finish it until today. It took me about 7 more hours to get to a state of completion. At least enough to show people it...I could probably invest another handful of hours detailing it more, making things a little bit neater, etc. All of of is done in black ink which ranged from being a black sharpie in thick and fine point, normal ball point pens, and my favorite, a pen with a precise tip that resembles a needle.

I am very proud of the lion in particular, there is no pencil outlines underneath it, this drawing is solid ink.  Wink Well, solid ink minus the splash of color for the lion's eye.

All of the quotes on it are 'drug' related as when it was first started it was done so under an influence. It seemed very fitting for the nature of the lion.

I'm not really looking for criticism on this as I will more than likely never do anything like this again, I had never done anything like this before which I think makes it even more awesome. The lines lose a lot of their uniformity as time goes on due to the cramping this type of drawing inflicts in your hand.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A picture dump of things I have made recent-ish! on: August 02, 2012 06:59:59 AM

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mini Ravenclaw School Bag on: July 17, 2012 11:07:22 AM
I made this for the One Tiny Harry Potter Thing swap for my partner Fiber Alchemist. I had never made anything little like this before so I was really pleased with how it turned out. Smiley Included with it was a letter from a Slytherin (myself) who had the task of putting together bags of school supplies for new students as punishment.

The backpack is sewn from felt and the little Ravenclaw logo I made from cutting out wax paper stencils and painting on with acrylics

Everything together, the Ravenclaw blue pens were in case my partner wanted to add more notes and couldn't manage the teeny weeny quill included.

Little class books

The little tin was mostly to help contain the tiny bottle of ink even further if it somehow came open in the mail

I decorated about 30 pages in a little note book of useful notes, some had color with them as well

5  COOKING / Dessert / Nutella Peanut Butter Rolls! on: May 03, 2012 12:07:29 AM
So easy, Pillsbury flakey dinner rolls that I spilt in half and them spread with peanut butter and nutella and sandwiched together, I baked them in the over on 350 until the tops were golden brown, I also sprinkled a little bit of sugar over the top of them before baking.

 They turned out delicious!
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Potato Chips! on: May 03, 2012 12:05:08 AM
I made these myself on the flat top stove. They turned out wonderfully and were super easy and pretty fun to make. I had a craving for some chips and we didn't have any at home, I really didn't want to go out and purchase them and happened to spot the bag of potatoes! I just shaved the skin off and washed them, sliced them into fairly thin slices, some turned out thicker than you'd imagine but were still great! I heated oil in a pan on the stove over medium heat and dropped the slices in until they fried to the crispy-ness I desired, I drained them from the oil then and let them cool and drop on layers of paper towels.

7  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / First attempt at quilting on: April 13, 2012 06:18:08 PM
I made this for the first swap I ran, the Theme Box Swap. One side is Star Wars and the reverse side is a modge podge of different tee shirts. It took about a week to make, hours of sewing! The pictures were taken by LanySmiles. I loved how it turned out and would love to make another quilt sometime for myself Smiley

I probably will not continue using tee shirts as much as I enjoy the look of them, stitching the jersey cotton is a huge pain, it pulls, stretches, and is generally a hassle. ):
