11  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Measuring gauge on bobble stitch? on: May 12, 2007 03:40:28 PM
Is there a way to measure the gauge of a bobble stitch? I've never worked with a bobble stitch pattern so I'm not sure how it's done. But I'm writing a pattern for a hat done with bobble stitches. I think it might be kind of important to have some sort of gauge measurement since it's a hat.
12  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / A family of Blue Birds and their nest! on: May 07, 2007 05:26:18 PM
I'm not really sure why but I'd been wanting to make a nest for a while. And of course there had to be birds to go inside it too!  Smiley

13  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Gullies.. my wierd amigurumi birds *added 2 more on pg 2* on: May 05, 2007 09:40:55 PM
yay!! I've been wanting to post these all week but I couldn't think of a name for them hehe! I call them "gullies" -  Indirectly related to sea gulls, these gulls dwell in swamps. They enjoy wading in murky water and eating bugs. tehe!

They kinda have a wierd lil bunny tail. I didn't want them to have big tail feathers. Just a little fluff!  Grin

15  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Creative fixes for ripped jeans? on: May 03, 2007 05:57:04 PM
I have several pairs of ripped jeans that I would like to fix. There are some little rips on the front of the legs on some. The biggest problem is that 3 pairs have a big rip down the butt. I have no idea how this happened lol! I got them from shady Ebay sellers trying to pass them off as "destroyed". But I really like the jeans otherwise and would like to fix them somehow creatively. Nothing childish or obnoxious, I don't want to just put a big ugly patch there or anything. In other words, I don't want it to be obvious that they have been mended. I just want to do something cool looking. And I'm all for destroying them further, I just won't wear pants with a giant rip across the butt hehe!

Here's some pictures of the damage:

Any ideas? please help!  Cheesy
16  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Has anyone used these tools? on: April 28, 2007 12:34:59 PM
My hands get really sore from crocheting so I am considering buying some of these tools to hopefully help.

I found these cushions that sound nice but has anyone used them? I'm wondering if they make holding the needle awkward.

And then there's these things to help with tension:

I would love to hear anyone's opinions on these! Do they work and help? or are they just a waste of money?

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Where to buy Waxed Cotton Cord? on: April 16, 2007 12:17:35 AM
I'm looking for places to buy Waxed Cotton Cord. The place I normally buy from (fire mountain gems) doesn't carry all the colors I want so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other places you can get it? Specifically, I'm looking for light & dark purples and light gray in .5mm width. I keep searching online but am not having much luck. Help! Smiley
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / What kinda stitch is this? Japanese Pattern on: April 13, 2007 08:44:48 PM
Help! I'm trying to work with this pattern that is in Japanese and I can't read it nor am I familiar with the stitch so I'm just lost! Here is the pattern: http://www.puppyarn.co.jp/03patterns/09.pdf and a picture of the hat (the second one): http://www.puppyarn.co.jp/03patterns/3.html#09

I thought it was 5 double crochets in the same stitch so that's what I started doing but it doesn't look right. Help! Please? Smiley
19  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Felting Amigurumi? on: April 09, 2007 12:36:03 PM
I'm about make my first attempt at felting amigurumi. I was just wondering, what happens to the stuffing in the wash? Does it get all mushed and lumpy? Or will it stay nice? Or do you felt it without the stuffing inside and stuff it later?
