1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pink Skull Top: Simplicity 3835 on: May 28, 2007 09:37:00 AM

This was the first top I've ever sewn, and it was really easy! I know lots of other craftster folks have done this pattern, but it's Built by Wendy/ Simplicity 3835, and I used the pink astral skull print cotton by Alexander Henry. I think it came out pretty cute!

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Peapod Baby Sweater from IK on: February 08, 2007 10:26:01 AM
Hi there! i finished this baby sweater up awhile ago, but i forgot to post it here. this is Kate Gilbert's baby peapod sweater from Interweave Knits. (the pattern's available online at their website.) it was so much fun to knit and i think it came out darling, despite the crappy pic.

I used knitpicks shine sport in green apple. it was wonderful to knit with, it's a natural fiber (100% cotton) and machine washable, so i thought it would be perfect for baby gear.

(apologies if you saw this months ago on my blog!  Wink)
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / yarn suggestion?? bulky and machine washable... on: August 22, 2006 06:59:04 PM
hi there!

i would really like to knit knitty's Starsky sweater for my grandmother. the pattern calls for knitpicks Sierra, which is a wonderful yarn, but handwash. since my grandmother has severe arthritis, i would like to make the sweater as easy-care as possibly.

does anyone have any suggestions for a bulky (cyca #5), machine washable yarn that comes in a "natural" color, that would be good for cabling? i'm having a really hard time finding something suitable.

thanks so much!

i made these socks in about 2 weeks, as a mother's day present for my mom (a little early, but at least they're done, right?) they were designed by stephanie pearl-mcphee and they were so much fun to knit! perfect for welcoming in spring. details at my blogWink
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / One Skein secret pals...anyone doing this? on: April 08, 2006 05:29:14 PM
i stumbled upon this link while i was reading someone's blog and i think it's something i might be interested in. any craftsters doing it?

one skein secret pals swap

the only thing is, i've looked through the book and there aren't any patterns i'd be *too* excited to make for my secret pal...but since you can also send something of your own design, i might do that.

what do you think?
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / first completed *pair* of socks on: March 26, 2006 05:10:33 PM
my boyfriend bought me betsy lee mccarthy's Knit Socks! for christmas, since my new year's resolution was to learn to knit socks, and he was thinking ahead. i made one hot pink and purple "starter stockinette" sock for myself, but then i developed a horrible case of sss, so i started the Best Foot Forwards for him instead.
my first completed pair of socks:

my darling in his hairy legged glory

a close-up of the cable twist pattern.

he loves them, they fit well, and after all that endless gray, i was estatic to pick up the pink again, so i'm finishing my pair now.  Wink
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / toddler's v-neck vest...patterns??? on: March 10, 2006 07:16:18 PM
i was in my lys the other day and i saw an absolutely adorable v-neck todller's vest with little intarsia slug-bugs (vw beetles) around the bottom, and matching slug bug buttons. however, the employees have NO IDEA what pattern it is from.

i can work out the image chart on my own, but i desperately need help finding a pattern for a vest. it must be sized for a 3-year-old, button up,andv-neck. i checked all over the internet, including knitting pattern central, with no luck. i'm totally willing to buy a pattern or a book (preferably if i can get it used, and no more than $15ish)

any suggestions? my nephew needs this vest!
