1  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Discussion and Questions / Reproducing a soliloquy onto... something? on: September 24, 2010 06:50:38 PM
So many questions, so little time!
For an English project, I have to do an "artistic rendering" of one of Hamlet's soliloquies. The guidelines are that it has to be handmade, NO t shirts, and nothing lame (ie, crumpled grocery bag + lighter + coffee grounds + crappy handwriting).
I wanted to try etching glass, but making a stencil of a all those words sounds difficult and time consuming. In the past people have embroidered tapestries, made mock military documents, done calligraphy on canvasses... They all seem nice but I really don't want to copy anyone else.
So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for something super creative and cool I could do that isn't ridiculously impossible, and any tips on how I might go about doing it.

Also, if it helps, the speech I picked was in Act I, Scene 2. Hamlet is defending himself against his mother saying that he TRULY is depressed, and he's not just a poser by wearing black clothing. (not in so many words)

Thanks guys!

I know this is a few months late, but I use clear nail polish. Haven't had a problem with them!

You guys, I've been blessed with lots and lots of lovely beads, wire, tools, buttons, chain, findings... and yet I'm completely uninspired. Honestly.
I've tried browsing etsy, craftster, google, and online bead stores for project inspiration but I just can't get inspired! I don't know what's wrong with me!
I've included a picture of (most of) my stash so maybe someone can help me get out of this slump.

Also, I just bought some MORE beads, nylon thread, cameos, and headpins at artbeads.com. Heh heh...

GAHHH I wish I was a size 6! Frida is my favorite historical figure EVER. I looks absolutely lovely!
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How do I make this dress less ugly? on: January 03, 2010 03:42:18 PM
Let's face it. It's a trainwreck. I bought it at Macys years ago and it's just overall NOT flattering. I really want to fix it though...
any suggestions on how to reconstruct this dress into something a little more becoming?

PS excuse the mean looking face and adorable little brother haha
