41  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Pretty Pinatas on: July 13, 2004 05:17:04 PM
I made pinatas with my kindergarten and first grade students.  All 20 of them were able to make one from start to finish.  They papier mache-ed balloons, added construction paper cones, put squares of tissue paper in between the cones, and added tassels.  We used starch to do the papier mache part and painted on the strips of torn newspaper with watercolor brushes.  The kids were extremely proud of their pinatas and the classroom looked great.  I did tell the kids that this was not the traditional way to make pinatas.
42  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Cuttlefish Onesie on: July 12, 2004 08:31:18 PM
My pregnant little sister requested baby girl clothes that were not pastel and didn't have bunnies or ducks on them.  I embroidered a cuttlefish on a onesie and she really liked it.  I can't eat cephalopods anymore after seeing a National Geographic special on these noble creatures.  Cuttlefish are the inquisitive, playful puppies of the sea.
43  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Honeymoonin' Kitties on: July 12, 2004 08:19:58 PM
I embroidered honeymooning kitties (c. 1930) on a tee shirt for my niece.  The design is one in a series of five that chronicles the courtship of two kitties.  Please excuse my crappy embroidery job.
