11  Re: Travelers Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lindsoriah on: February 11, 2008 05:17:00 PM
Ok, first off, my post office guy is slow in the brain, because I sent like forever ago in a flat rate box and he said it would get there in 2-3 days and it cost like $5.  At the time I was mailing a bunch of stuff, so I didn't have time to explain why a rate is different than the price of the envelope, but the way I figure it should at least be delivered by now.  He's totally pocketing the change.

But on a ** brighter ** note  Grin  Grin  Grin,

I got my package today!  I got a neat blanket made from soft fleece tied on the edges, two little cross stitch kits, and an eye mask.  As a special treat, I asked her to make me some stitch markers because I saw the pretty ones she sells on etsy, and she did!  They are so so pretty, I love the colors and how delicate they are! Perfect!

Thanks uknowuluvit for the awesome package, and thanks SevsOnlyGirl for organizing!

12  Re: 2008 Color Craft-A-Long in Craftalongs by lindsoriah on: February 02, 2008 06:58:53 PM
pjherbert, I love edgerydoo projects from what I have seen here on craftster. They look so cute and doable!

Here's my January and February contributions (they go together and the first post says we have until the 5th to post for a previous month):

I just got the envelope template set and i love them! I'm much more likely to make cards now, I think.

My january project was (and is) a quilt, but it's still in patchwork stage, not to mention basting, quilting, and binding. That'll be lucky to get down before next january at the rate I'm going...

Hope you like!

13  Re: Stash-Be-Gone-Along? in Knitalongs by lindsoriah on: January 27, 2008 09:19:52 PM
Made this scarf for Martha's Table, a shelter here in DC that takes handmade items:

Hope the picture works!

It is six feet long and the pattern is from the Cozy Crochet kit, basically a sc,hdc,dc in every third st for those who crochet. I am also making a matching hat from the same yarn!

14  My first time spinning (image heavy) in Spinning: Completed Projects by lindsoriah on: January 08, 2008 05:40:45 PM
A knitting friend of mine (who I actually met through craftster due to her resourcefulness!) recently took the time to teach me how to spin, allowing me to borrow a spindle and giving me some fiber to practice with.

Here's a yard I made just learning:

Here's my first skein!  (Or, as I called it after finishing it and twisting it into a stubby twist, my yarn baby)

She gave me some gray wool and some wool made of bright pink, teal, and purple, so I combined them for maximum yardage and usability.

15  Re: The Amazing Hoodie Swap R6 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lindsoriah on: January 08, 2008 05:21:47 PM
I got a cool cool cool hoodie from McCook!  I love it so much.  I was kind of skeptical about this swap but I thought that if I got something I liked it would be pretty neat, and she did an awesome job!
I really like the way the hoodie fits, and here are some pictures of it

Thanks so much McCook!  I hope you like the one I send you as much as I like this one.
P.S. I was just looking over my wists and Mccook nailed the embroidery from this link I have posted there:
McCook, you sneaky!

16  IIIIII have stuff too! in The Swap Gallery by lindsoriah on: July 18, 2007 03:15:58 PM
I finally got my school supplies package and am so excited!  Smithyboy did a great job, really excellent crafting, and I am very happy with them.

Here's the photo:

Clockwise from the fellow in the back, I got:
1. A neat hand-made folder with a picture of Cabrillo on it, a spanish explorer, with lots of folders!
2. A cool tubey thing that zips and I think is for pens and pencils, if not secret documents.  I don't even know what this thing originally was, but smithyboy did a great job attaching the decorations.
3. A covered notebook with a nice swirly pattern
4. A lanyard, presumably for keys, which will come in handy for sure.
5. A REEEEALLY pretty pouch with a zipper and lining, and the zipper  sewing is really top notch. Probably my favorite item.

Overall, a really great batch of supplies.  Definitely nice to get since I have been stressing over school stuff, but this is one thing I don't have to worry about!  Supplies... check!
Thank you smithyboy!

17  simple, but yummy yarn! in Knitting: Completed Projects by lindsoriah on: May 03, 2007 05:58:29 PM
i'm new to the world of fancy fibers, so i've decided to get a new fancy yarn when i go on trips.

recently in asheville, nc i got some berroco Ultra Alpaca, which i think is so pretty in color and texture.

i made a tube scarf (i somehow did not own a scarf despite years of knitting) and it is quite simple, just knit in the round on size 10 dpns because i really just wanted to show off the color.  too bad the pics don't portray it as well as i'd like. (silly camera)

the color is somewhere between those two pictures.

what do you think?

18  me make quilt! ugga ugga! in Quilting: Completed Projects by lindsoriah on: May 02, 2007 01:03:05 PM
this quilt looks like it was made by a caveman.  i tried.

it's my first one, and i don't have anyone to teach me, so don't make fun, ok?  i got a new book on how to quilt, but it's in the mail.  this was just to... i dunno... make sure i'm not a prodigy.

i made it for Project Linus, a charity, as part of the livejournal group
It is a group that is trying to make 3000 items for charity this year.  Please join if you are on LJ!

19  babies <3 snails, right? in Crochet: Completed Projects by lindsoriah on: May 02, 2007 10:23:09 AM
I crocheted this for Project Linus.  The snail is applique, with some afterthought embroidery.

Closeup of snail:

The second shot is more color accurate, despite my hippie camera that apparently drops acid on the sly.

On a similar note, if anyone is on livejournal, you should join 3000in2007, it's a crafting-for-charity group that is trying to get 3000 items out this year.  Do it!

20  Meet Madge, the fancy chicken in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by lindsoriah on: April 27, 2007 06:57:33 PM
this is my first knitted toy, although parts are not knitted.  it's for my sister's birthday, and i'm hoping she likes it... she's turning sixteen so maybe she's too old for it, but i'm planning to make enough outfits that it should be fun (and i hate just getting her more clothes or consumer items when my mom is constantly buying her that stuff and she doesn't even care that much.)

... i'll probably throw in an iTunes card if I have to.

hope you like!
