what happened to all the crafting??  Smiley

so its christmas break so i finally got some stuff done.

first up is the chest for holding cards at the reception.  it was $20 unfinished at JoAnn.  i stained and polyurethaned it, then lined it with some fabric i had lying around.  fittingly enough, the fabric has a leaf pattern on it. how fallish...

i also made some corn sacs which will be part of the gift baskets for the bridesmaids. they are made of super soft flannel.  its a dark brown with a faint, ornate paisley pattern on it.

bridesmaid wrap #1 is finished and #2 is about a foot long thus far.  each one has a slightly different lace pattern, though its really hard to get a feel for the pattern before the wrap is finished and blocked.  they are about five feet long (or one is... the rest will be)

and today at goodwill i found some cute little matching baskets that should work for the flowergirls.  i'll have to stain them and will probably work some ribbon in somehow as well.  my goal is to have the baskets and the unity candle done before school starts.  and we have an appointment with the paper store to go over what we'll need to put together our own invites as well. they are going to let us poke through all their books for ideas.  i can't wait! Smiley  (sorry for all the pictures)

rhettsmommy, i really like the bridesmaid necklaces.  and your unity candle reminds me that i should really do that too Smiley

here is part of the first bridesmaid wrap i am knitting.  i've probably got another half skein of yarn (maybe a foot of knitting) left on this one.  then three more to make.

here's a close up of the lace pattern.  it will look much better once its finished and blocked.  then it won't curl up on itself.

*squeeeeel!!*  Central Ohio bride!  *squeeeeel*

Sorry, just had to get that out of my system.

O-H...   Grin  i'm in good ol' cbus.  i figured it would be easier to get people to and from a wedding on a saturday in october if they didn't have to contend with the football traffic.

Oooh bobbing for apples sounds neat! I've never done that; it might kinda creep people out though cuz all the germy spit and stuff haha. Make sure no one's sick

it was my sister's idea and i think its great, though in actuality it will probably be mostly the kiddies (and the drunk uncles) who participate.

this is the goal for the candle centerpieces, the idea came from family circle magazine

here you can see the picture a little bigger

schi118, i really like the color you used.

i finished my first calorimetry a couple days ago.  i wanted mine a little bit bigger than the one pictured on knitty but not as big as some people's turned out so it was kind of experimental.  if i make another, i think i'll make it slightly smaller but overall i'm pretty pleased.  i didn't bother with a button, i use a wooden 'stick' to sort of pin it closed.

(ah the lovely 'take it yourself in the bathroom mirror' shot that is always so flattering)

this one is slightly blurry but taken in better light for a more accurate depiction of the color
