101  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Questions for Decorations for my Room on: April 15, 2007 08:27:06 PM
1. I was thinking of making a Welcome/Do not Disturb sign for my room. Do any of you have cool and creative ideas?

2. I have a really boring trash can and would like to make it more interesting. Are there any ideas besides modge podge?

3. I want to make some pillows for my room. Does anyone have some cute ideas? Maybe shaped like an item? Huh

I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance. Smiley
102  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Help on Costume Ideas! (planning ahead) on: April 13, 2007 10:12:24 PM
Okay, so I realized that every year, my mom gets very stressed when I tell her I need a costume. So this year I decided to make it. I'm making it for two reasons: Many of the kid's costumes are too baby-ish, and in the end, since I am small for my age (6th grade), I am limited to the baby-ish costumes that aren't what I want. I would really appreciate it if you could think up of ideas for the costume and how I would go about making it.

So here's some stuff about me:
  • Not girly, but not exactly boyish
  • Loves to read and write, basically literature stuff
  • Loves playing piano
  • Loves to craft Grin
  • Fave color: Purple
  • Likes pigs
  • Likes math
  • Asian...(A rice bowl for a body? Chopsticks for arms?  Huh
  • Short (if it matters...)
  • Loves Totoro!!!
  • Loves dogs

Oh, and it has to be appropriate for my mom.

If you need more information, let me know. And I would really, really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance.
103  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Three things: Water bottles, old socks, and marble drink on: April 08, 2007 08:18:03 PM
Sorry for continually posting these types of posts. I am continually cleaning my room, so I've been finding these things and want to do something crafty with them.

1. Water bottles...anything other than refilling them?

2. Old socks-these are worn out, old, ankle socks.

3. I like to drink these Japanese marble drinks. I don't have a photobucket account yet, so here's a link to a picture: http://photos33.flickr.com/37646988_3123a3b534.jpg?v=0

And if that doesn't work, you can always type in a Yahoo/Google search bar: "japanese marble drink" or "ramune bottle."

Thanks tons for all your help in the past and thanks in advance.  Smiley
104  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Cereal Boxes? on: April 07, 2007 04:28:11 PM
Any ideas for cereal boxes? Thanks in advance.  Smiley
105  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / Advice on Clay on: April 07, 2007 02:08:13 PM
For a school project, I have to make a clay model of the Trojan horse. Well, today my mom and I went to Michaels to get clay, but we were overwhelmed with the choices. We were in a rush, so we just grabbed modeling clay. However, I was wondering if this was a good choice because it said it never hardens. So, what clay would you advise me to use for this project? Thanks in advance.  Smiley
106  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / What's the difference... on: April 07, 2007 02:03:54 PM
What's the difference between decoupage, modge podge, and paper mache? I was searching for "recipes" of each and they all seem the same.  Undecided
107  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Help on Origami Stars on: April 06, 2007 03:19:42 PM
I want to make some origami stars since I found out that I had those ribbons of paper. However, I'm having a lot of problems with puffing it up. What techniques do you use to puff it up, or is there a special way you do it? Help would be appreciated.  Smiley
108  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Anyone know a pattern for PJ pants? on: April 05, 2007 06:40:58 PM
Well, all of my pajama pants are getting too small and tight. Before, my grandma used to make my pants for me, and I would like to learn how, but we have a bit of a language barrier...I don't understand Chinese. So, I was wondering if there were any good tutorials or pattern out there. If you could share, that would be appreciated.
109  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Help on Mother's Day Gift on: April 05, 2007 04:11:07 PM
So...I would really appreciate any ideas for presents for my Mom because before I would buy her stuff (with my limited allowance), but now that I've been on Craftster, well, I want to craft! But I dont know what to get her, and thought that of course you guys could help. She says that Im good enough for any present for any occasion or if I behave thatll make her happy enough, but she deserves much more than that. And I also have to make these by myself, because no one else in the family, besides my mom, understands why I like crafting, and the things we make at school for Mothers Day are pretty crummy. Also, Im a 6th grader, so please dont throw too many ideas at me that will be too hard. I also want to make it so that I dont have to make a trip to get things because my Mom is mainly the one who always drives us around and it would kind of ruin the surprise. But if there is a really awesome idea, I might have to get my dad, but hes not always available.  Undecided

So, here are some things about my mom:

  • Well, referring to the just wanting me for her present, I saw this somewhere on, of course, Craftster, that someone made a doll of herself. I might try this even though the sewing will be horrible. But it is the thought that counts right?
  • Loves to read: I'm thinking about a bookmark. I would like to make her a book bag, but if youve been looking the the Purses Discussion board, Im not the best sewer/purse-maker.
  • Loves to cook, especially Asian food because its our heritage.
  • Likes American Idol
  • Likes Dancing with the Stars
  • Likes So You Think You Can Dance
  • Very, very, very neat, clean, and organized (unlike me  Roll Eyes ) (I cant do the chore and free hug coupon ideas because she expects me to do it anyways. :/)
  • Likes jewelry: I know how to make simple stuff with wire thanks to my aunt, but I don't have any good beads.
  • Not very sporty, actually no sports at all!
  • She does enjoy the crafty things I do Cheesy
  • Shes a great artist! I saw some of her sketches before and theyre  Shocked worthy! But now she doesnt have much time:/
  • Ive seen some shrines around here and I would like to make one, but dont know how to go about it??? What could I use as a base? Would a shoe box work?
  • Im also thinking about the flower pot pens.
  • I also want to write a poem saying how much I love her or maybe a small book
  • She LOVES traveling!
  • I would love to make dinner for her, but Im afraid it wont turn out that well. And bed in breakfast cant be done either, she wakes up at 4:00. Shocked
  • She works reeeeeeeaaaaally hard (staying up late, waking up early), so she hardly ever gets any me time (by which I mean her time) any ideas?
  • She likes sunny weather/summer
  • Shes really smart, caring, and a high achiever to set an example for us
  • She likes Oprah because it is informative
  • Im thinking of doing something Asian themed as well (Chopsticks (like we need any more), Red Envelope with Money, hmm? What else?)
  • I was thinking of doing a model of our house, since she is in Real Estate, but how in the world would I do that?
  • We dont scrapbook, but I was thinking of stealing the empty frame that she isnt using and slip in a picture of me and her or me and my sister.
  • Or maybe something like a planner or message board? Or magnets for our refrigerator?
  • She likes warm and bright tones for colors, especially orange and she hates green. But for something to wear, she likes black. Im thinking of finishing the scarf Ive been putting off to match her black clothesAny other ideas?
  • Thanks to you guys, I can now crochet so perhaps amigurumi of her favorite animals?
  • Any ideas for the card?
  • But my last question would be how should I present this?

Sorry for bombarding you with all these questions and needing help for all these ideas, but shes just a great mom who deserves the best on Mothers Day! And I want to give my Mom the best.
