1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Making a [sort of] Complicated Vest...help s.v.p! on: February 28, 2007 01:59:23 PM

Im going to make the vest on the character above..but I havn't made somthing like this before.
Its going to be made of a pleather like material.

for starters Im clueless about the pattern? Im not sure how to make it, should I use a pattern from another vest the try to modify it? or make it from scratch? Normally when i sew I just wing it, but I dout i could do that with this project.

Also the huge belt buckles?
I highly dout Ill find some buckles that huge in a store, so Ill probally have to make them.
Any suggestions on what type of material or how I could make them? or even places to buy huge buckles  Undecided

oh one more thing. Do I need to get a larger/thicker sewing needle for my sewing machine to do pleather?

Im sorry for all the questions , to me this seems complicated and im noob.. so I would be soo thankful for any help at all.
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Making a Bag/Belt, I need alot of help! on: February 28, 2007 01:43:41 PM
Im making a bag from a video game (final fantasy III)
heres a picture
I have a few questions to ask about making it.

1. What material does it look like I should use? I was thinking maybe a pleather? and if I used a pleather like material...would my sewing machine take it (its quite old) or should I do it by hand?

2.about the belt buckel, its supposed to have a cross like image in it..any ideas on how to make it?

as for making the actual bag..Ill wing it, but any suggestions would be nice aswell.
3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Help with hanging paper cranes from my ceiling? on: February 04, 2007 04:36:53 PM
Ive been trying to make 1000 paper cranes to hang from the ceiling in my room, (they're very tiny) and Ive finished stringing a bunch
which are all different lengths.
but the problems I have is I'm not sure how to hang them from my roof
my friend suggested using push pins, and pinning the strings to the ceiling..but I don't want a bunch of holes left in my ceiling.

any ideas? or is it not even possible?
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / I have a pair of white and blue nikes that need work, any ideas? on: January 21, 2007 06:06:27 PM
[Im sorry for only posting links, it won't let me post pictures yet]

I tried to return these shoes too late and so Ive had these Nike's in my room for about a year now and have not worn them once. The main problem I have with them are the two bottom holes for the laces. They look awful, I tried relacing them..but it still looks odd.
Any ideas of how to cover it up, or any ideas at all really?
I was also thinking of maybe having some sort of design on the side? my friend suggested the cancer sign since the shoes are some special cancer edition. (by cancer I mean the horoscope sign)

I also have a pair of old vans with a mickey mouse print on them
the toe of them also look kind of wonky, with the shape and the laces.
Do you think it would be possible to make them into slip ons and lose the laces alltogether?

Any ideas would be great
thank you
