21  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Coffee Filter Roses UPDATED 4/8/09 With Final Wedding Bouquet on: April 21, 2009 10:57:04 AM
I remember you posting these a while back, and thought they were pretty. So once I saw your finished product I was amazed. SOOOOO... I hopped on over to the site, watched the tute, ran out and bought the stuff and so far have made one rose. I don't have a digital camera, so I can't post a pic, and it's kinda wilty looking, but could pass for a dying rose.

It isn't great, but I can see where I learned a LOT during the construction of my first one. I will do things differently next time, and I hope they turn out half and pretty as yours did! Everyone(my coworkers and my boyfriend<- he appreciates craftiness)  is soo excited, I have already been asked to make some for some people when I get better at it. Since I will be turning in my 30 page paper tomorrow, I should have more time to work on them. There are two downsides to these tho... 1. the floral tape makes my fingers sticky and it makes the petals stick to them when I am trying to wrap the stems, and 2. it took a LOT of white watercolor for me to "prime" them to receive their permanent color. Any suggestions for stretching my white watercolor further?

Thank you everyone, SO MUCH for posting all of these updates and links and suggestions. I will be making bouquets of these in the future!!! Grin Cheesy Wink Roll Eyes
22  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: "Faking It" Hoodie + some Knickers on: April 17, 2009 11:05:27 AM
Awwe. love the hoodie, very chic. My mom had 2 kids in the 60's. 2 kids in the 70's and one (me) in the 80's. She said the worst part of being pregnant was that maternity clothes got more and more boring/ugly with each decade. You look like your son is carrying very high, which def. Leads to the "not preggers" optical illusion. Congrats!

Wonderful! I could see this as an outfit in some really cool movie. Like "Penelope" or Series of Unfortunate Events, where the characters wear very unique clothing. I wish I could be this creative.

So, I have looked at (ok, obsessed) over your wedding pics several times. The whole holiday was just beautiful, and I've read your captions multiple times. *YET* I *just now* noticed that your hubby had a camo vest... LOVE IT! great, beautiful wedding and congrats! Roll Eyes
25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Custom Mahjong Set on: February 25, 2009 04:04:42 PM
I am truly inspired. As an online Mahjongg player (obsessively) I have searched and searched for a tile set that I can actually afford. Haven't had any luck yet, and it never occurred to me to make my own. Guess what my next project is?
26  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Slit Throat Choker - with pattern on: February 18, 2009 03:35:59 PM
ADORABLE!!!!!! I will be making one of these. I am a total Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood junkie and this sort of fits the whole gory theme!
27  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Wonkey Monkey on: February 18, 2009 03:34:41 PM
I have made 2 of these monkies, starting my 3rd tonight and still owe a 4th. They are awesome. Too bad that it has taken me 1 1/2 years to finally start my third one. I made them(am making them) for my niece and 3 nephews. I left out the top part where the head is two toned. And the last one that I am making is a chimpanzee. Given the recendt unfortunate attack that involved a chimp, I am now a little hesitant to carry this WIP around and parade it like I did the other two when I was working on them.   I couldn't get the arms and legs to be the same length even tho I used the same needle/yarn. I just winged the length of those. Thankfully the next two I am making are going to omit the tail. You did a GREAT JOB!!!
28  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: cute ice cream and strawberry menstrual cup pouches! (two new pics added!) on: February 16, 2009 08:53:09 AM
AELITA~ I used to have the same problem and ALL of my friends thought I was nuts and argued that I must not be putting them in right. Not only did they literally just "Shoot" right back out, but it hurt like a Mo-Fo gettin 'em in. What worked for me (at first) was using OB w/0 an applicator, then those started backin out too. Well, I found out that I had a tilted uterus, which for some women makes insertion painful or downright impossible. So, i switched to the Diva Cup and I am soooo happy! Now I need to make a little pouch for mine since I somehow lost the one it came with at some point during my last cycle...  Huh

I hit this rocks cause it does. I also would love to see a pattern if you had time and wanted to share the lovely-ness. Grin

Fantastic! I saw you first post about this and marveled at your timing. Somehow, my menstrual mind allowed me to mis-place my Diva cup bag two weeks ago, and my cup is desperately in need of protection. I LOVE both the strawberry AND the blackberry and I WILL be trying to whip one of these up! Thank you so much for the inspiration!
