1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Lots of projects! (Lots of pictures!) on: February 08, 2011 09:03:02 PM
I thought I'd share some of the projects that I completed for Christmas in 2010. Cheesy

First, a Kirby's Epic Yarn hoop. I was not totally happy with this one. I think the fabric colors are a too dark, and Kirby isn't exactly round. It was my first time couching. My friend seemed to like it, though!

The back:

Secondly, a Scott Pilgrim hoop, based on the video game. This was actually the first one I did, and you can tell- my stitches aren't as neat as they could be. I did some tinting on this with colored pencils, which worked really well. I like the shading on this one a lot.

The back:

Next, a quote from Dragon Age, along with a rose. The gryphon in the background is colored pencils again, as well as the shading on the rose. I really like how this one turned out!

The back:

The last of the hoops is my very favorite. I freehanded the little dog, and she looks just like my friends' dog Dixie! The leaves are felt.

The back:

All of the hoops were wrapped with a (somewhat) coordinated ribbon, and the backs are finished with felt.

Thanks for looking and suffering through my blurry pictures!
2  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Busted Acrylic Roller? on: February 08, 2011 08:30:17 PM
Hi, everyone.

I went into my clay kit tonight, and I noticed that both ends of my acrylic roller have developed cracks. One side is much worse than the other, but both ends are all ragged now.

I haven't used it in a couple of months, but I keep all of my tools in a box that I keep in my craft room, so it's not like it's gotten to cold or hot.

Is there any reason why these cracks (which were not there last time I used it!) would have magically appeared? I'm going to have to buy another one, and I don't want it to happen again!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Caron Felt-It on: February 27, 2007 11:22:49 AM
Hi, everyone!

I bought some of Caron's Felt-It yarn (http://www.caron.com/yarns/felt-it.html) with the intention of making a small bag out of it. I did a swatch, and went to felt it (in the sink, because I live in an apartment, and don't have my own washer).

It shrank up nicely, but it's still got holes in it. I used a half double stitch because I didn't want it to be too stiff, but it's not going to work with these big holes.

(Sorry, no pictures, I can't find my camera cord.)

Any advice? Should I use a different stitch, or did I just not felt it enough in the sink? This is my first time trying to felt, so I may not be doing it right...
