1  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Purple and Black on: February 05, 2008 11:16:20 AM
I made this little number for my brother's wedding.  My SIL's colors were dark purple, it was SO hard for me to get inspired.  But finally a really big bow and Sunny's dress from A Series of Unfortunate Events combined in my mind along with purple shot taffeta and black ribbons to create this.

I had to completely redo and alter the bodice because my dd's shoulders were too narrow.

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Hip in Hemp to Hip in Kashmir! on: January 17, 2008 02:40:06 PM
Thanks to lauruk for the inspiration

and to gudrun for the pattern!
I made it in Joann's Sensations Kashmira in Black, Lime and Turquoise.

I think I am going to make a matching one for my daughter!

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Sweatshirt to Tote? on: January 14, 2008 11:21:19 AM
I have this sweatshirt, I like the color and the image - but not so much to wear.  I need a knitting bag and I thought I could make a cute tote out of it and preserve the image.  Any ideas for me?

4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Super fast purses GREAT GIFT! on: December 15, 2007 08:00:01 PM
Zowie!   I love these purses.  They take about an evening to knit up and another evening to make and add the lining and handles.  I made one for my SIL one for my mom and one for ME!
all 3 together

My green purse with a temporary christmas ribbon and bell

and the mustang lining

The pattern is from my LYS.
Sue Olsen seed stictch cable purse.  I used Lion brand thick and quick and size 13 needles instead of 17s
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Old school stockings hung by the chimney with care on: December 15, 2007 07:46:07 PM
So my MIL has stockings for the whole family made back in the early 60's so when my hubby came along in the late 70's the stockings could no longer be found so his kind sisters bought a drugstore stocking and put his name on it with glitter and called it good.  Well hubby spent his whole life bummed that his stocking didn't match the rest of the family's and most importantly the toe of his stocking pointed the opposite direction.  So without further ado I give you a family of stockings made to match the originals as closely as possible. TOES POINTING IN THE PROPER DIRECTION! I will hang them up at my MIL's for a suprise.  Now not only his stocking matches  but so do all of his children's and his wife's.

and a close up

These aren't really my true christmas style but they are good replica's of the old ones, they are made of flannel and bias tape with some fur.  The most time consuming part was the chain stitching of the name.  I tried to match the font but it is hard to mark on FUR!  Also I couldn't find shiny fur like MIL's stockings

sorry about the fuzzy pics - our camera is losing it
6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Cute piggy, help find a name! on: December 03, 2007 05:20:15 PM
I finished this amigurimi pig last night.  I was inspired by the piggy at Amigurumi Kingdom.

But she needs a name.  I would let my daughter name her - but she is really too young to thing up names.  any ideas?
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / sound card picture frame on: November 18, 2007 08:39:59 PM
My husbands birthday present was late in the mail so I ransacked his old computer parts chest and borrowed his dremmel and made this.  It was the first time I ever used a dremmel. I think next time I will be able to make straighter lines.  I got blisters pulling all the little parts off though...
8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / super simple amigurumi question on: November 15, 2007 05:02:46 PM
I want to make a piggy like this
for my baby.  It looks very simple but I have one problem, the body and head are just your basic simple amigurumi right?  Why can't I faind an online pattern for one?
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Child Costume: Little Red Riding Hood: a fairy tale on: October 27, 2007 09:41:09 PM
There once was a little girl whose mother had lovingly made her a red riding hood.  It suited the girl so well that every one called her Little Red Riding Hood...

One day her mother sent Little Red Riding Hood to visit her grand mother with a basket of goodies.

As she was going through the wood she met with a wolf.

I made every stitch of this costume (except shoes, tights and basket)  without a pattern and from my own design.  I am very proud.  There is a skirt, apron with embroidery,  a dirndl and an undershirt.  There is also a cloak with detachable hood.  The Wolf is not part of my costume entry but I did make that for my son.

Here is a detail of the apron hand embroidery

I made the dirndl our of navy cotton twill.  Edged with red bias tape and made the eyelets by hand with red thread.

The cloak is made of red wool and red satin lining.  The construction of the hood was a little tricky - since I didn't have a pattern for any of this.  I LOVED the effect.
10  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Portland area children's costume contest?? on: October 27, 2007 08:17:31 PM
I am really, really proud of my daughter's Little Red Riding Hood costume.  I want to show it off!  Does anyone know of a kids costume contest in the Portland area.  I know there are costume contests but they are usually in clubs and adult themed.  Not for my one year old.  I live on the Westside more in the Beaverton area but I will travel.
