anything you hate or that would be inappropriate ( ie maybe you don't want your kids looking at a burlesque themed item? )

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / mer-bunny on: February 08, 2005 07:35:06 AM
so to fuel my mermaid obsession i got bored and made this yesterday while at work. i happened to have one of the little cotton bunnies normally used for crafts a little too country for my taste, and i decided it would be much cuter with a mermaids tail... thus she was born, no name yet...

I just used a fabric sample and a little scrap felt to make the tail and slid it over the legs.
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / anyone up for a my town swap? on: January 11, 2005 11:59:44 AM
I'm big into travel and roadside Americana and am always looking for info on places to go. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a swap where we would pick a city (either our own or just a travel destination we love) and make maybe like a brochure or something plus a little craft, maybe a postcard or button or something representing the place? We could swap info like best reastaurants or tacky touristy stuff not to be missed. For example I live in Central florida, but instead of disney I'd recommend places like the serpentarium outside of St. Cloud or Gatorland in Kissimmee, plus a few good restaurants and shops...especially crafty shops.

I would like to do it so we'd each get a variety of cities, so maybe we would each do multiples. Just a random thought.
8  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / vitamin C tablets for your hair... on: January 11, 2005 11:51:06 AM
ok, so in a fit of boredom i dyed my hair red (AGAIN) after being bleach blonde for awhile, i used the new color pulse type from l'oreal, and in my stupid headstrong mind the "for lightened or bleached hair--not reccomended" didn't apply to me.  Roll Eyes anyway the color came out a beautiful BRIGHT red. one look in the mirror and i declared, I love it, but I am gonna get fired. It was supposed to be a 8-12 wash deal, but no such luck. so in a desparate moment I called my aunt who owns a salon, after I threatened just to dye a darker color over the red she let me in on a method I would have never thought of...

to help strip pink tones left over from red dye on bleached hair:
crush/grind up a few 1000 mg vitamin C tablets and mix in enough clarifying shampoo to make a paste, wash your hair with this focusing on the bleached areas. Follow up with a good conditioner since it is super acidic.

It took out much more than just washing repeatedly had prior. Hope this may help someone else down the line...
