1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Little Black Riding Hood on: September 08, 2008 03:36:15 PM
I made this little doll over the weekend and thought I'd share.

She's about 12 inches tall, the body is made from dark red felt, neck, arms and legs are posable (pipe cleaners). I put two wires in the legs, but they are still very unstable, because the dress turned out quite heavy.  Undecided

I kinda wish I had picked a lighter colour felt, but this started out as something else and then I changed my mind and made a doll out of the basic body. Maybe I'll make another one with white felt and black hair (the pink is embroidery floss).

In case you're wondering how I got the limbs so thin, I sewed them shut from the outside, using the hidden stitch. So no agonizing turning it inside out.

close up. yes the face looks horrid, but I just went for it without practice.  Grin

And without the hooded cape and a flower in her hair:

She's completely handsewn (also because I can't work my mom's machine).
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Jack Skellington (added pattern on pg 2) on: November 04, 2007 02:43:51 PM
I finished this little guy yesterday. A little late for Halloween, but luckily The Nightmare before Christmas covers 2 holidays.  Grin

and with his Santa hat

He is made with felt and stands at about 9" tall. 10" with the hat.

In case anyone wants it, I scanned my pattern and made a printable version in photoshop. enjoy.

eta:  whoops, I think the bottom of the pants part is upside down. it needs to fit over the body, so the wider side is up, not down.  Tongue
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / 3 devilish kittens on: March 19, 2007 04:08:58 PM
I bought some beautiful new fabrics recently and well these kittens/devils are the first pieces I've made with them. They're 16 cms tall and the back of each is the same colour felt as their face (corresponding pics for each below the group shot).

I'm particularly fond of the one in the middle. Love that gorgeous white/red rose print. Smiley

They look much cuter in daylight actually. Maybe I'll get some better pictures once the sun comes out. It's snowing here at the moment.  Roll Eyes

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Red Velvet Bunny on: February 08, 2007 03:14:13 PM
I made this bunny from crushed velvet and white felt. I don't have any  of those teddy bear joints, so I just ran some thread through the shoulder and arm (hip and leg), pulled the ends together and tied a couple knots to secure them. His limbs are dangly but he still won't sit up by himself. He needs something to support the back. :/

And no, this is not for Valentine's Day. But he could well be, considering the colours. Well, either that or Christmas.  Grin

He stands at 8 inches tall, ears included. Entirely handsewn.

edit: fixed my images
5  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Pears, a kitten and Poor Leno (pic heavy) / UPDATE: Now with pear pattern! on: January 30, 2007 06:33:45 PM
I made some new felt stuffies. Cheesy

First up are some pear pincushions, inspired by HELLOmynameisHeather:
(the red one is made from crushed velvet)

And then I also made this kitten thing. I think it's a kitten anyways.  Wink
The other sad looking kid in the bear suit is Poor Leno, from the Royksopp video.

6  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Various felt plushies (EDIT: Now with apples!) on: January 16, 2007 12:17:04 PM
Hi, I'm new to craftster and thought I'd share some of my felt stuffies.
Holidays tend to bring out the crafter in me and this year Christmas somehow got me addicted to making stuff out of felt.  Cheesy

So now, I'm basically milking my crafting craze until it fades again. I'm working on some apples right now, but have run out of poly fill for stuffing.  I'm buying some tomorrow and will then update my thread with a few more pix.

Okay, so here's some of the things I've been making over the past weeks. I'm a beginner at sewing and sew everything by hand (which shows  Wink ).
Tell me what you think.

UPDATE: Here are the apples I've been working on:
The red one is made up of 4 pieces, the black one of 5. 5 looks much rounder.

I think I might use the red one as a pin cushion. Cheesy

First up the snowmen that started it all. I saw this tutorial online and bought some felt the next day. *haha*

A funky panda (own pattern based on the snowmen). I know he's a bit crooked but I love him.

I call these Yin Yang Twins  Grin , (again altered my snowman pattern and added the faces and ears).

This one is a slightly altered version of the Wee Wonderfuls Pointy Kitty pattern.

And finally, an elephant based on the pattern someone posted here (my printer doesn't work at the moment, so I had to draw my own pattern based on it).
