3  Coffee Toffee Ice Cream in Dessert by justjenn on: June 25, 2004 12:54:15 PM

Last night I had a craving for Coffee Ice Cream and since I just bought a new ice cream maker, I gave it a shot. On a whim I cut up some dark chocolate covered toffee squares and threw them in. Man was it tasty!

Here's the recipe.

You can substitute anything for the toffee. I just happened to have it on hand....

4  Re: Ice Cream Cake? in Dessert by justjenn on: June 25, 2004 12:45:53 PM
I know this doesn't categorize as "cake" but here's an idea, I bought a frozen pre-made pie crust that you just throw in the oven for 10 mins - it's very flaky. Then I made some fresh peach ice cream and I layered it with caramel. It was great. I'm sure you could substitute cake for the pie crust.

Or you can make this watermelon bombe that I made, but cover the top with cake. That'll work AND qualify as Ice Cream Cake!

6  Window Bench in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by justjenn on: June 24, 2004 03:29:38 PM

Window Bench

I bought an old IKEA coffee table in the "AS IS" section, for $60. It served us well for years and I didn't want to throw it out so I thought I'd turn it into a bench. If you ware going to do this make sure it is a well made table so it doesn't crack when you sit on it! This table had stable legs and braces so it was a-ok.

I bought some 3" foam at Joann's for the base, they cut it to size for you, but I found you can just use a serated knife and do it yourself, if you're so inclined.

I used some heavier hawaiian barkcloth, and made slipcovers. When people come over they all sit on this bench and avoid the couch! It must be the eyecatching fabric...

7  Gingerbread Haunted Mansion in Halloween Decor and Parties by justjenn on: June 24, 2004 03:21:11 PM

Gingerbread Haunted Mansion
My mom and I usually make a Gingerbread house every Christmas, but one year we did one for Halloween. It's a great idea cause of all the availiable candy in October.

Since I made it a few years ago, I wasn't smart enough to take step by step pics, but I put in as much description as possible.

8  Watermelon Ice Cream - BOMBE! in Dessert by justjenn on: June 22, 2004 05:31:38 PM
This is my first post here, I just started putting my crafts on the web and craftster is a great place for more ideas!

Watermelon Bombe

I made this watermelon bombe by lining a metal bowl with plastic wrap, then adding a 1/2 thick layer of lime sherbet, then a 1/4" thick of vanilla ice cream.

Then I took 3 pints of raspberry sorbet and mixed it with mini chocolate chips.

When you unmold the bombe and cut it, it looks like watermelon!
