21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Stargate Swap (Signups:26/5-8/6 - Sendouts:30/6) on: June 01, 2009 02:11:06 PM
I'm going to third the request for spoiler warnings.  The last season of Atlantis has been sitting on my DVR since... well, since it aired  Embarrassed  DH and I are re-working our way through Atlantis from the beginning, but we're still mid season 1.

As for Stargate Universe, I'm kinda skeptical, but I'll give it a shot...

23  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / What can I do with chive flowers? on: May 13, 2009 03:45:18 PM
My chives are in flower right now.  I'm trying to think of something to do with the flowers, and I'm drawing a blank (I thought of using them in a salad, but DH and I aren't big on salads).  I'd like to do something with them - they're edible and so pretty.  Any ideas?

Go for it!

You do need to have 15 posts before registering for a swap, but getting up to 15 isn't difficult at all.

mcook, it's awful that you got two "shredded" swap packages one after the other. Sad

My thinking is, a swapper should choose what s/he thinks is the most appropriate packaging for the item.  It seems silly to insist on a padded envelope for an ATC or a few bits of yarn.  BUT, the swapper should be prepared to re-craft and re-send if the packaging plainly wasn't sufficient to hold up to the wear and tear of normal shipping.

Full disclosure: I participated in one of the swaps mcook is talking about (though I didn't send to her), and I did use plain large envelopes.  But I was sending knitted washcloths.  Washcloths are flat and don't have hard edges that might rip through paper.  And they all arrived intact.

It's your mom's house.  Her house, her rules.

From your comment "I obviously still live with my parents (well, one of them at a time)" I'm guessing that your parents are separated or divorced?  If that is the case, you could have swap packages delivered to your father's place, assuming he's ok with it.  You could also have packages sent to your mother's or father's place of employment, or you could get a PO box (you have to be 18 to get a PO box, but maybe your mother could get it for you).  Or you could just wait until you're 18... and maybe get a PO box once you've turned 18, if you're still living with your folks then.

I think I've made a horrible mistake.

Yesterday, DH had to troubleshoot a production problem at work.  (Fortunately, he didn't have to go into the office, but he was hard-wired to his computer and the phone for much of the day.  Sad  No worries, though - I got some knitting done.)  He was really on edge, so once everything was resolved, I offered to draw him a bath.  I drew him a bath and told him that he could use the soap I received from MareMare.

Now he wants to keep it...........

Questionnaire sent...

For the first time since I started swapping, I actually don't have any in-progress swaps.  So much for that!  Cheesy
