1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / temporarily papering a wall? on: May 20, 2010 08:30:57 AM
Monday's my first (paper) anniversary with DH and I'm planning on running this beautiful image from one of his favorite games through the rasterbator and putting it up on the wall behind his desk:

I'm not going to be going *huge*, probably about 4x7 (for a total of 28 pages big - if he likes it I plan on promising to cover a wall w/ it once we finally get into a house)

Anyway I was just wondering if anyone has any experience putting something like this up on a wall temporarily (we rent).  I know I could just go w/ double sided tape, but I'm curious if there's a better method out there.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Bachelor Party T-shirt on: April 21, 2009 07:47:49 PM
Thanks everyone ^_^

I'm really jealous that he's going to a Video Games Live concert too.  We had tickets a few years back, but the concert was canceled last minute!!

Here's a close up for details

So my future husband's friends are kidnapping him on Friday night (shh, its a surprise... good thing he doesn't ever read craftser ; p) to take him to VIRGINIA (we live in upstate NY) for a Video Games Live Concert.  I decided I *had* to make him a t-shirt that announced to everyone "I'm getting married" and increase his chances of getting called up on stage for one of their interactive segments.

incidentally... it is really hard to put a veil on a chain chomp  Wink

hrm!  I've never played with artificial florals before, I'll have to hit up the craft store and take a look.  Thats actually closer to my original idea that I thought I'd be able to get!  Smiley

Ok, our centerpieces are seriously referred to as that around here : p

So I'd planned to make the centerpieces for my May wedding myself.  after seeing this:

I bought ten of these:

Well, we went to make our "final arrangements" with the reception hall last week, and apparently, not only do they need any centerpieces we're making to be delivered a week before the wedding (ruling out anything alive, like plants) they will charge us $150 to put anything on the tables that is more complicated than just plopping them down (they don't want to have to unpack or set anything up)

::siiiiiiiiiiiigh::  Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do with these lanterns that 1)can survive a week sitting in my reception hall and 2) doesn't require any setup?

I'm seriously so close to calling the florist...   Cry
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Re: impossible stencil?? on: December 15, 2008 07:57:17 PM
ok here's what I've got so far.

I think I've identified the general... "furriness" as my big problem.  I can't figure out how to simplify her fur enough so that the stencil is easier (relatively) to cut, without losing her mopey expression. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

ahh thanks, and no worries about not being able to work on it.  I think I really needed to hear that it wasn't impossible ; p  That plus a couple hours break and I'm ready to work on it again... I'm thinking about maybe just using Lola's face for the stencil

Last year I made a t-shirt for my sister that had her grumpy cat, Nobu, on it:

This year I wanted to make my sister in law a tshirt with this picture of her mopey dog, Lola, on it:

but for some reason I can't get the image right!  I've been playing w/ Gimp for 2 hours now and can't seem to get something I think will stencil well.  Is this picture just too complicated?
10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Ani L'Dodi Anniversary Piece & Patriotic Angel -- Cross-stitch (pic heavy) on: July 14, 2008 05:32:23 AM
The Ani L'Dodi is absolutely beautiful!  Now I have to figure out a way to make it for my live-in FDH before our wedding without ruining the surprise (though... he is a better stitcher than me... maybe I'll give him the kit  Wink).

Since our rings will have "Ze Dodi Veze Re'ei" (This is my beloved and this is my friend) engraved on them, I really wanted to do something with Ani L'Dodi as well! Thank you for linking to the kit!
