1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I'm BACK! Camera case, make-up bag and wallet! on: August 05, 2007 01:02:02 PM
With exams and all, I have hardly had any time to sew. Like, at all.

SO, to get back in the swing of things I made some stuff I needed.

On holiday I bought a digital camera, but there are NO cool cases to fit it. So I came up with this baby. I took some of my favourite upholstery fabric, but it wasn't quite sturdy enough. My interfacing just wouldn't 'cut the mustard' so I came up with the idea of quilting some fleece behind it. I did this to both the lining and outer layers. By God, this baby is thick!!

It looks better with the camera in it, but for obvious reasons I had to photograph it without.

NEXT UP, a prototype. Got bored of my current Body Shop make-up bag, which was straining under the weight of all the new Mac make-up I bought. So I came up with this curved design. Pic is really terrible and doesn't do it justice. But I was in a hurry, okay?!

Et finalement...My New Wallet! My (fake) Louis Vuitton one got After Eight mint smeared all over it (I don't know how but I was very very drunk) and I am sooo poor. So I improvised and came up with this!

Button closure, lots of interfacing. Cool Alexander Henry print.

Interior, plenty of card holders, for my Debit card, Boots advantage card and train tickets seeing as I am only 16! Kind of made this up as I went along. Also a note pocket, not that I need it. Notice the two measly 10s...my phone bill was BIG this month.

Zipped coin pocket with hot pink zip!

Then I remember that in my haste I had forgotten to put my label on it. So, yet again, I improvised. The pink thing in the heart is a sequin. Also, I forgot to use fabric pens so it's a bit blurry. But you know what they say...shit happens.

Hope you enjoy.

Be good.
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Getting word about? on: July 27, 2007 08:50:26 AM
Okay, so for the last few months I haven't even THOUGHT about my bag-selling business, since I have had exams, holidays and work experience to deal with. But now I'm on summer holidays, and though I work in a cafe, I'm back to focusing my attention on my business.

I started up my website back in February, but still no sales. I think it's because I haven't advertised, as I don't know where to start. Can anyone give me any advice?

Thanks in advance!
3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Best way to advertise? on: April 10, 2007 02:17:54 AM
I've had a few thousand pageviews for my site since it opened in February. I know this isn't a lot, and to top it all off, I haven't sold a single bag!

Any suggestions on how to get customers to my site? What would be the best way to advertise, in your opinion?

And is there somethting wrong with the products? The prices?

Okay, so I'm getting side-tracked. Main question: what is the best way to advertse for my online bags store?
