So many pretty yarns. It seems to be singles/corespun week!

Lots and lots from me because it's been AGES!

This is Jeepster - named after my mum's favourite T-Rex song. She chose the name and the colours. It's BFL.

This is Ride a White Swan - a wool/alpaca blend and one of my favourite things ever to spin.

Became this. Life's A Gas. It's Falkland, which was a real pleasure to spin, and I love the texture of the final yarn.

And finally this...

is Metal Guru. BFL again.

And that was it for Marc Bolan March Smiley

This month is Enid Blyton April, but I've been dyeing rather than spinning so there's no handspun to show for it just yet.

Oooh, wow! Desmond is doing wonders!

I'm on a real T-rex kick at the minute - and I've also finally got to the stage where I  can produce a nice chunky yarn again! Yay! So...

This is "Solid Gold, Easy Action". It's a blended top. My supplier had no more info than "a blend of South-American lustre wools". With that non-specific description, I wasn't sure, but this really is some of the nicest fibre I've ever spun with. It's got a wee but more crimp and bounce compared with BFL, but it's quite similar. It also takes colour really well.

And this is "Spaceball Ricochet". The fibre is merino/soya/bamboo so it's really shiny!

3  Fibre Friday - 6th March 2009 - First of Spring! in Spinning: Completed Projects by kathleenalice on: March 06, 2009 06:12:12 AM
Wow, is it really March already?! The sun is streaming in my front window here. It's fantastic.

In honour of that - this is Spring Has Sprung. It's 50% merino, 25% soya and 25% bamboo. Sooooooo squishy!

This next one is very unusual for me - a single ply of falkland. It's really squishy, and I've managed to do the low-twist thing, so it'll felt really well.

And Finally, this is Duck Egg. It's merino and wensleydale with a little bit of sparkle, spun from a really delicious batt I got from Vampy on etsy.

So...what have you all been up to?

Wow - what an introduction! Your stuff is amazing.

It's just the one from me this week - I keep getting distraced by dyeing.

This is my finest laceweight ever - it's 100g of a lovely merino/silk blend and 800yds. I'm so proud of myself!

Ooh, good start!

Thenutmeg2000  - that looks so smooshy. Isn't Wensleydale fantastic? I love those sheeps. They look so cool.

myklia - those colours are lush!

And uh...Jazzturtle...I gave in. Corespinning is so much fun!

Forgot to say - the first is 'BRAAAAAAAAAAINTH'. It's for a Discworld swap. I was going for 'The Forests of Uberwald', but uh...the dye didn't do what I thought it would do. It's a wool/alpaca blend from Wingham's.

The second is lovely merino with added sparkle - one of Vampy's batts (http://www.vampy.etsy.com). And her name is Disco.

6  Fibre Friday - 30th January 2009 in Spinning: Completed Projects by kathleenalice on: January 30, 2009 12:17:06 AM
Morning all - it's string-from-fluff time!

Here's what I've finished off this week.

This is Tequila Sunrise - I showed you the roving I dyed for it last week. I'm really proud of how squishy it is.

And this is a 3-ply merino/silk blend. It's obscenely soft. It's my first 3-ply using 3 bobbins - in the past I've used centre-pull balls. It's so much easier! But you do end up with a lot of leftovers.

And a little taster of what might be coming next week...

Wow, I've been away far too long! GothChics - I love your colours.

This is a bit of a sample of what I've been up to...

This is a lovely pink 3-ply sock yarn, spun up from a batt I bought from the lovely Vampy on Etsy. It's her special sock blend, so it'll be good and solid, and it's got just a touch of sparkle too. I'm thinking of maybe making a pair of Seven of Hearts socks for Valentine's day.

This is one I've done for a girl who runs an ethical yarn business. It's English Wenselydale wool (which grew up about 80 miles from me), dyed with natural dyes. One ply is rainbow dyed, and the other is kettled dyed using the remaining dyebath.

This was some commercial Merino, spun thick and low, and plied with thread. In the colours of the rainbow. In order. I'm very proud of it.

This one's some Patagonian Corriedale from Shunklies on Etsy - very very tasty, and it's being knit up into a Morning Surf scarf.

And a recent triumph - some lovely squidgy chunky stuff, spun on my yummy new wheel.

This is what's going to be coming next. Some yummy BFL dyed with kool-aid.

And what about an FO? This is a shawl knit from some merino/tencel which I think I showed you all.

Wow, it's been forever since my last Fiber Friday!

Here's a selection of what I've been working on...

Refresher - all acrylic, a much more pleasant experience than I thought it would be

Tonks' Tresses - From a beautiful Romney batt

Rustic - Undyed humbug BFL - it nearly choked me, but it was worth it

Dora's Stripes - I loooooove these colours

Carrot & Corriander - A custom spin - I'm really proud of how squishy it turned out

Ooooh, lovely colours, HotCarl!

This is my favourite this week. It's an amazing merino/silk mix, spun on my lovely wheel and navajo-plied. I didn't know anything could ever feel this lush! I call it Trillian, after the Douglas Adams character because it's beautiful, bright, stronger than it looks and uh...has silk in? OK, so maybe that one's not been thought through fully.

Next up - I finished Fizzy Vimto with another 30g. There's now 70g and nearly 300m. Yeah, it's skinny.

This was the first to come off my new wheel - Forbidden Forest. I'm rather proud of it.

And these two - Vesuvius and Peacock - are spun from some hand-dyed Shetland roving I picked up at Woolfest in Cumbria last Friday.
