11  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: - Braided Cable Hat in Rowan Cocoon - on: December 28, 2007 07:34:02 PM
I'm excited to try more cables now after realizing how effortless it was to get the hang of a braided stitch! I was really more intimidated by such a fab fiber. I sat and swatched for a good week or two not knowing what to choose because everything knitted up so great!
12  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / - Braided Cable Hat in Rowan Cocoon - on: December 28, 2007 03:19:16 PM
I made this little little ditty for a graphic artist friend of mine who wanted a hat. We hammered out the details and he chose the holy grail of Rowan Cocoon! God I love this yarn, it's so spongey and lustrous!

I took a zillion pictures, mostly due to my inebriated post-top-model-finale state.
It's to late to apologiiiiiiizzze.....

I wrote up a pattern too, but I'm still new at it. It's not particularly hard, but remembering to write down as you go is my greatest downfall. I'm usually on the go when I knit and paper and pen are never handy!

I don't to overkill with the photos, so there are tons more on the blog, and about twice that on our flickr account!

Hope you like my hat

I finished the third a while ago, but here she is. It's light and airy but the color makes it stand out like crazy! If you haven't made one already-get on it!  Wink

if anyone can recommend a nice cast-off I'd be super stoked seeing as I've never knit top down on a hat

16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: How can I block armwarmers? on: December 04, 2007 08:28:04 AM
well, i don't think you'd want to wear them for as long as it will take them to dry. And if you do, I forsee a cold in your future!  Tongue
If you dont have any glasses that would be the size or cirfumference you want to stretch them too, hop over to a grocery store and find something that is. It could be as simple as a  pack of spaghetti. Lots of everyday household items make the best(cheapest) blockers.
17  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / -Wobbly brim fix- What's the best way to do it? on: December 04, 2007 08:22:06 AM
I knit a hat for a friend and the brim is a bit wobbly. I'm sure this is due to the fact that I didn't knit the bottom ribbing long enough and the braided cable is scrunching the little ribbing I do have.

So my question is this,

Am I better off picking up stitches and continuing the brim in the same pattern or reversing the pattern so that the new sts are opposite?

Will one way provide more stability than the other?

She's helped me out when I was in a tight spot a while back so this is no sweat off my back. They don't take that long either, I could have finished this one in 6 days had I not been so hungover saturday....and..er..sunday...  Cheesy
