So, I took the handmade pledge this year and made this for a coworker.

It's 3 strands of beads, pearls and gemstones.

I'd love to hear some feedback before I give to her!!!

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Any ideas on what these things are? on: October 30, 2008 07:20:50 PM
I found these in the basement of my house and have no idea what they are or how old they could be. The house is pretty old, built in 1880, and they were stuck in a crawl space.

There are 2. about the same size. the edges are smooth and rounded (kinda fatter in the middle?) And then there are notches cut out on the ends.

I have no idea... maybe parts to a rocking chair? Someone thought they might have come from a loom?

If anybody has an idea what they actually are I'm very curious and would love to know! or ideas what to do with them? I think it would be neat to find a place in the house for them.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / This could be bad... What would you do? on: September 02, 2008 06:16:28 AM
I'm a little worried.

I booked my first outdoor festival for this weekend, and just saw the weather report. Heavy rain and wind early morning into the afternoon.

I bought a canopy but I have this feeling of impending doom... Rain at an outdoor festival usually equals few customers, and with the wind, rain could blow in from the sides soaking my items. I just don't know if it will be worth it.

The fee was only 15 dollars...I might just eat the fee and not risk my items getting ruined and wasting a day, not sure. What would you do?
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / 5 cute kids pillows! on: June 08, 2008 06:59:24 PM
I gave these to each of my neices and nephews at Christmas last year, and I'm just getting around to posting them now. Cry

Each pillow is fleece and so are the animal shapes. I found the fabrics in the remnant bins at Joann's for a steal.

They love when I make them things. Grin

This is little Xander enjoying his gift.

They were a hit, kids loved them.
Thanks for lokking.

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Yard sale makeover on: August 28, 2007 05:36:53 PM
I bought a little bench-type seat at a yard sale for 2 bucks. I painted it black and redid the seat with some red brocade.

I LOVE it now!

Here it is with it's new finish!

And here is a before pic. you can't really see it, but it was painted white with a yellow splatter effect and then topped with gold glitter. and the seat was old vinyl.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Camo cut-offs to cute bag on: July 22, 2007 05:44:47 PM
So a friend gave me these. She turned a pair of cargos into cut-offs and wanted a purse from the legs.

Here's what I started with.

I sewed the pockets together for the front flap and lined the bag with some brown satin.

This was my first time for a messenger type bag, just sort of made it up as I went. Stressed a little during construction, not much fabric to spare for mistakes. Will be giving it to her soon crossing my fingers hoping she likes it.
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Tiny Powder room Makeover Image heavy! on: June 18, 2007 12:33:14 PM
We recently painted and redecorated our small powder room.

This is the old wallpaper (it was there when we moved in)

Faux finish in hot chocolate! It makes the walls look like suede.

I picked up this shade from a chinese market in town

And I made a new curtain from some sari silk.

Here's a daytime shot, the light coming in makes the whole room glow orange!

Hubby and I are very pleased with the results! No longer ashamed to let guests used the potty : )
