1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Some Christmas Crafty-ness! on: November 24, 2007 05:20:53 PM
First I put together this little thing with some already cut quilt squares that belonged to my great aunt, who passed away a few years ago. I had black thread in my sewing machine, and was too lazy to change it, but I think it worked out OK. The other side is just squares of the holly and no red.

I bought this plain, "blank" wreath and livened it up with some things I purchased(gasp!) at the dollar store. I wanted to craft my own things/decorations for it, but I am so pressed for time, I found these cute, cheap things and decided that it would be ok. Now to find a place to hang it. :/

Plain stockings (again with the crafting my own vs. $ store supply dilemma, the store won out again), just embellished with my name(and my boyfriend's on his stocking) in felt, and a ribbon and a bell...I am thinking of adding something to the felt letters, but I don't want it to be TOO much and kind of like it simple.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / My first finished crochet project - a Calorimetry on: November 24, 2007 05:13:41 PM
Somewhat. I really wanted one of these, but I have yet to figure out the whole "knitting thing". LoL. So I saw somewhere someone had figured out a pattern for one out of crochet. I am also pattern challenged, so I just looked at that and went my own way. Kinda winged it with increases and decreases and it came out very wonky, but once its on my head, you can't tell. Here are a few pics...I love this yarn, but I don't remember which kind it is...I always throw the wrappers away, lol...but I think it was Bernat Softee/Chunkee? Something like that.

On my head.

The button on the back.

To showcase the extreme wonki-ness...

All in all I was proud tho, it actually fit my head! My bf was making fun of me a bit, but I just kept calling it "my new thing", because I knew he wouldn't understand the calorimetry word. Heh. I still wish I had a knit one, but until the day I can master that world, I will have to wait.
Thanks for looking.
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Makeup "Roll" on: February 24, 2007 01:09:34 PM
*EDIT* Links should now work...thanks.

I just bought my first sewing machine yesterday, and this was my first project, with some leftover fabric I had laying around.

I am realllly pleased with this! I love the fabric and the ribbon, and it is "custom made" for my makeup! hehe. I wish it rolled up a little more narrow, but if I took out the couple big compact dealies it probably would...thanks for looking. Comments welcome. Smiley
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Pillowcase into a tote...(my first post!) on: February 24, 2007 01:05:25 PM
Hi yall.

I made this tote out of a pillowcase, a fabric remnant, and some pretty ribbon I had laying around. I just bought my first sewing machine yesterday(happy birthday to me!) and this was my second project, first purse ever. I'm rather pleased with myself, though it is FAR from perfect. Can't post pics yet, so here are some links...
