1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Palmetto Tree wall art on: April 06, 2008 05:52:11 AM
Super cute!

I'm a high-schooler in Columbia (I go to a Richland District 2 school), and we have an annual auction. One of the things they sell is metal palmetto trees that the various student groups decorated.

So cute!

Agreed, the star is a very nice touch. I love the facial features, too.

Amazing work. It looks like something you would find on a Threadless (http://www.threadless.com) shirt. Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: sharpie jeans for a cookie monster on: April 13, 2007 10:31:50 AM
Adorable idea. When I first looked at the blue cookies, I thought they were little Cookie Monsters (from Sesame Street?). Smiley

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / fold-up purse on: January 17, 2007 05:28:45 PM

So, Tokidoki for Lesportsac has this (http://www.lesportsac.com/store/tokidoki/fw/9526_3686.html) super cute purse, but at $160 a pop, it's a little out of my price range. I purchased some cute fabric and fusible interfacing, and used some scraps of my reconstructed jeans to make this.

It folds open a little awkwardly; my calculations were slightly off in creating my pattern. haha

Here is the lining. I also made a little pocket on the inside. I didn't leave enough seam allowance on one side of the opening, so I was only able to attach one side of the zipper. Hopefully I will be able to fix this.

Straps are jean on one side and polka-dot on the other. I am thinking I will make a khaki backing for them and get black straps next time.

I'm overall pretty pleased with the result, especially since it's basically my first attempt at creating something from scratch. Tell me what you think. :]
