1  FIBER ARTS / Weaving: Completed Projects / First project - handtowels on: March 21, 2017 06:26:32 PM
This was my first ever weaving project (second warp, the first was just to get a feel for weaving).   After cutting the towels off the loom, I did a quick zig zag stitch before washing, then pressed and hand stitched the hems.  They have some problems (I was having issues keeping a consistent width) but I'm really happy with them overall Smiley

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Recently completed blankets on: December 11, 2016 06:53:16 PM
Here are 2 of my recently completed blankets.  Both were done as part of CALs over the last couple months and will be Christmas gifts.  I'm still a relatively new crocheter (about 18 months) so I learned a lot doing these two blankets (standing stitches, front/back post stitches, surface stitches, etc).  I'm really happy with how they both turned out.  Smiley

This one is called Demelza

And this is the Sunshine Owl

There are more pictures/details on my Ravelry project pages.  Thanks for looking!
3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Beet amigurumi on: November 16, 2016 08:21:41 PM
I haven't done much amigurumi but I have a co-worker who's last day is Friday and I wanted to make him something special (he loves beets).  I made this little guy in a couple hours and I'm really happy with how it turned out!  Smiley

Here's the link to the patten I used - http://www.nyanpon.com/2012/08/beet.html?m=1
4  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Chickpea cutlets with herb scalloped potatoes and pan roasted broccoli (Vegan) on: June 29, 2016 05:47:54 AM
I have a mild obsession with vegan cookbooks, so over the weekend I pulled out an old favorite - Veganomicon

I made the Chickpea Cutlets (oven roasted instead of pan fried and pictured with some dijon mustard on top), Herb Scalloped Potatoes (I substituted lots of fresh rosemary, thyme and basil for the dried herbs) and did some pan roasted broccoli on the side.  It was so good and my mouth is watering just thinking about it  Cheesy

5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Harmony Blanket on: February 20, 2016 11:26:15 AM
I finally finished my Attic24 "Harmony Blanket".  I had a lot of fun making this blanket even though there were over 1100 ends to weave in  Shocked  Since this was my first time doing granny squares and there were so many of them to do (126), I decided to tackle this blanket "assembly line" style and did all of the centers, followed by all of the second rows, etc.

You can see the progress pictures on my Ravelry project page
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Crochet snowflake ornaments on: December 16, 2015 07:52:48 PM
I wanted to make ornaments for my family this year so I decided to give crochet snowflakes a try.  These have been the most technical crochet project I've worked on so far and I'm really happy with the results!  Smiley Most of the patterns are from 100 Snowflakes to Crochet

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Cosy Stripe Blanket on: November 05, 2015 05:00:39 AM
I found this pattern on Attic24's blog and fell in love with it so I had to make it Smiley.  This was only my second ever crochet project and I'm really happy with how it turned out (even if it is a slight trapezoid instead of a rectangle Smiley).  It's one of my favorite things that I've made so far Smiley

8  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Christmas coasters on: November 30, 2014 04:18:22 PM
I wanted something to brighten up the coffee table so I whiped these up quick this afternoon.  They're super easy to make - cut 4 1/2" squares of fabric and heavy interfacing and sew together - and they add the Christmas cheer I was looking for Smiley

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quick lap quilt on: November 23, 2014 06:18:49 PM
I finished this a few months ago and it has become one of my cats favorite sleeping spot Cheesy. This is my second quilt so I was scared to do anything too crazy with the quilting so I went with straight* lines.

*I was sewing pretty fast so they weren't as straight as they could have been.
10  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Favorite vegan recipes? on: July 06, 2014 10:03:25 AM
As a long time vegan, I am constantly trying new recipes and always on the lookout for new things to make!  What are some of your favorite vegan recipes??

Here are some of my favorites:

Punk Rock Chickpea Gravy from Vegan With a Vengeance - this is my goto gravy and is amazing with biscuits

Sweet Chili Lemon Tofu with Wok Steamed Kale and Quinoa - This is quick to make (I just throw the quinoa in the rice cooker so I don't have to worry about it) and delicious.

Pho - This took a while to make but was totally worth it.

One of my recent obsessions has been a modified version of this recipe for making a quick tomato sauce to go with zoodles (zucchini noodles) http://www.fromforkstofitness.com/recipes/zucchini-noodles-zoodles/
