21  Re: Once You Pop Swap Round 9- Summer Edition Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: July 14, 2009 09:12:12 AM
I got my package from Flower today and it is fantastic!! She did a lot of wist stalking and focused (almost) everything around my trip to the UK next month. Everything is perfect! She must be alittle psychic too cause added stuff I love that I didn't mention.

I have no idea what magic powers she had to fit everything in te can but here it all is! There a coffee cup cuff with a monster on it from my wist, a pet cactus (also from my wist. It's a jar too! So cool. I named it Phil. Twilight fans can laugh now.), A resin magnet with my name (which is awesome cause nothing EVER has my name on it and I covet all personalised things), the softest best fitting sleep mask I've ever felt. It's a wee bit wrinkly but I was too excited to wait to iron it. lip balm, luggage tags, a super cute passcover cover, altiods (how did she know I am addicted to them!) caffine free tea (which is awesome cause I can't have caffine), bookmarks made with vintagey buttons, a book worm button which is very very me, a lavender sachet which smells amazing. Everything i nthe can smells like it lol, little glass vial necklaces so I can steal soil from sites like Hadrians wall and Loch Ness! and super cute little rosette hair clips.

Ok I think that's everything lol

Here's a better shot of some of my faves though I adore absolutly everything!!

Sorry about the crappy pictures. I had to use my blackberry. I'll try and post better4 pics when my camera is charged. And I'll get better shots of everyything else too.

Thanks again Rose! You're awesome!!!

i got my package from cupcakeguru a few days ago and I was blown away! Using my themes of "Apples and Cherries" and travel, she made me the most adorable felt luggage tag ever! It will come in very handy later this summer when I am taking a grad trip to the UK Cheesy. The stitching in perfect, so much better than I can do, and she even hand embrodiered my name on the back.

Here is the front, I wish I could get a better shot of the stitching around the apple, but my camera isn't co-operating.

And here is the other side (with my beloved sticky tabs covering my full name. It's purple and in cursive incase anyone is wondering though). I love the double cherries on this side.

Thank you again cupcakeguru! It's too awesome to put on my checked luggage, this is going on my carry on so the whole world can apperciate it Cheesy

23  Tw-hard socks, for the dorky knitting Twilight fan. in Knitting: Completed Projects by Michela on: May 02, 2009 05:54:40 PM
I knit these waaaaaay back in November while I was recovering from a Tonsillectomy (I don't reccomend that by the way). I finished them the day before the movie premired and boy were they a hit! They were dubbed the Twi-hard socks, I was called the world's bigger Twerd...

Yarn: Elann sock it to me 4 ply in black (two balls) and red (way less than one ball)
Needles: 2.75mm
The pattern: Eclipse Socks by Julie Miller. You can find it on ravelery:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/eclipse-socks
Mods: Toe up, with a short row heel and 2x2 rib cuff with a sewn bind off.

(yes they are the same height, I couldn't be bothered to pull them up properly.)

Better shot of the duplicate stitch on the back.

24  Re: Once You Pop Rd9 - HOLIDAY GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: December 17, 2008 06:03:39 PM
I was starting to get nervous that I wouldn't get my package by the end of the week cause I leave for my grandparents place on Monday then lo and behold! I got my package from Taniquel today and its awesome!I was impressed with how much she managed to cram in there. Beware many pictures an a novel sized description.

So clockwise from the top there is mini ornaments, a star garland, bead necklace, covered tin, a clever little stamp ornament, 4 pairs of earrings (which were in the covered tin), a tree skirt for my mini tree, stickers, nifty lights with velum boxes on them so they look kind of like lanterns, the can cozy (That was probably a wine bottle cozy, that now holds DPNs) and in the middle are 2 really cool bead covered bottles. Not pictured is a beaded rope bracelet because it was on my wrist about half a second after falling out of the can and the cute little gingerbread shaped christmas card.

Close up of my favourites. Its kind of hard to see in the picture, but on each of the gold ribbon spraily parts are 3 embriored seed beads. It really is a very beauitful tree skirt for my mini tree and it fit perfect! Until I kinda broke the tree while taking all the other ornaments off so I could add the new ones and make it all look nice (I'm a little OCD with my tree). So since I was going to Michaels today anyway, I bought a new tree, but none of them were as small as my original tree and the tree skirt doesn't fit Sad. It's ok though! Cause the new one doesn't have a base that need hiding so I rested it on top of the skirt and it look very cute.

Here's an 'action' shot:

(please Iignore Fiona the foam head. I've been blocking christmas hats all week). I strung the lights on the shelf above the TV and filled the can with chocolates my niece gave me for christmas. (the can with the candy canes is from last years round!). And you can see the card she send me on the far left. Theres the tree with all its new decorations and sitting on its pretty little skirt/coaster. I tried getting a shot in the dark with just the lights on but it didn't work too well.

Rather than drown you all in photos, Here's a close up shot on the tree. You can see the skirt better in this one and almost make out the ornaments: http://flickr.com/photos/20776332@N08/3117277542/in/photostream/

Thanks again Taniquel! I love everything!!

25  Socks for the Twilight premire! in Knitting: Completed Projects by Michela on: November 23, 2008 05:51:57 PM
So I'm a total dork, a habitual procrastinator and completely unable to turn down a dare. The combintation of these personality traits was was a pair of socks knit while I was supposed to be studying for mid-terms for the Twilight movie premire this weekend.

They are actually even, I'm just a terrible photographer

The sock on the right says I <3 edward. Here's a better picture of the words

They were a total hit! I was taking my boots off all night when my friends kept telling people about my socks. It was rather funny.

Yarn: Elann.com Sock it to Me 4 ply. Two balls of Black, one of Brick. 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon.
Needles: Size 2.5 (3mm) 100cm addi lace using the magic loop method, which I highly reccomend! I knit the pair in almost half the time it normally takes me with DPNs.

Mods: Two up with a short row heel. 2x2 ribbing on the cuff instead of 1x1, with a sewn bind off. I also added a few extra rows so they would fit my feet properly, so I had to repeat a few rows of the chart at the top.

26  Re: Fill-A-Box Canadian Style Round 2 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: November 10, 2008 11:04:30 AM
so Lera-Star and I swapped in person almost three weks ago but she still hasn't posted pictures so I'm going to cause I'm actually pretty proud of what I made! (psst. Sorry for the massive amount of photos. I didn't get a picture pf the entire lot together. I didn't think I'd need it)

She said she wanted to learn beading and knitting and that she liked the ocean so I tried to based most of my package around that. For the crafted portion, I made her all jewelery so It could act as inspiration and an example for techniques.

First was a necklace, bracelet and earring set made with shell beads, fresh water pearls and rose glass beads. The bracelet also has rose quartz beads on it.

Then two necklaces (one is turquoius and based on one in her wist) and two bracelets. The blue one is lapis.

As for supplies, I got her a bunch of beads in a lot of styles since she said she didn't have much a stash. She got everything from pendants to seed beads to strung rounds and shells to plastic novelty beads. Ialso gave her some of my old tools, since she didn't have any and some strining material (tiger tail, artist wire, nymo with needles, and hemp).

There some more random supplies for other kinds of crafting. She asked for metalic floss so I threw in some of that. I also gave her some felt sheets but I don't have a pic of that.

Finally I put together a few learn-to kits. This pic of of the earring making and charm bracelet kits. There enough for I think 8 pairs of earrings (maybe 10. I can't remember) and one charm bracelet with at least 6 charms.

The last kit was a knitting kit. I don't have a full picture, but I sent this stuff along with 5 balls of another yarn w/ the correct size circs, some straights and two little booklets that I put together. One was for the yarn in the picture; it had a bunch of patterns in it that were good for her skill level and the second was a first garment booklet with a pattern and intructions for all the new techniques she'd need to know to knit her first garment.

If you're wondering how I fit all of this in, I used several air tight zlip locks and a lot of pressing to squeeze all the air out lol

27  Nightmare Before Christmas Pumpkins! in Halloween Decor and Parties by Michela on: November 01, 2008 05:03:45 PM
Nothing says Halloween like The Nightmare Before Christmas, so what better theme for this years pumpkins? They were a big hit! I had people taking pictures all night.

Jack Skellington with hand

Zero (He looked better in person, but this was the best picture I could get.)

Grinning Jack Skellington with Sally in the back

I also had an Oogie Boogie I carved in to a funkin, but I posted that last year, so I won't post it again. All the stencils were printed from zombiepumpkins.com, the single greatest site for jack-o-lantarn addicts!

I got my Angel package from phoenixfiredesigns on Tuesday. It is quite adorable and being used at this very moment! Camera issues have insued, but pictures tonight!

Look! cherry earrings! Aren't they super cute? I've alreadt worn themtwice. want to see an action shot?
They came in the cutest little pouch that phoenixfiredesigns made herself with some very vintag-y looking fabric with a big brown button disgusing the snap. It was her first time installing snaps and I think she did a wonderful job. I'd don't have a picture because it is currently at the very bottom of my school bag holding bus tickets but trust me, its cute too.

Thanks for being my Angel phoenixfiredesigns! I love my package

30  Re: Going Off to College Gallery~! :) in The Swap Gallery by Michela on: September 08, 2008 12:20:12 PM
So 6iggle, our lovely organizer, and I go to the same school (Small world eh?). So we agreed to meet in person! Today after lecture we wandered infront of the very crowded bookstore looking for each other to swap. It was kinda funny. Here's the very awesome package she put together for me! Since we didn't have to pay postage, we decided to go for 7 points instead of 5 and boy did I feel spoiled.

So theres two embellished notebooks, a Stitch (from Lilo and Stitch)  Laptop sleeve that fits PERFECTLY (and its' from my wist)! One big Stitch notebook, a mini Stich notebook, and a multi-colour Stitch pen (Notice a theme? :p) harry potter fabric so I can start my HP quilt, somewriting impliemnts, a pink hi-lighter and an eraser thats hiding in the pencil case she made, and an earring holder.

Here's the stuff she made. The laptop sleeve is made with an old towel, isn't she clever? It's fits my laptop perfectly. seriously, I couldn't have made a better fit myself. I needed a sleeve desperatly too. I am terrible at keeping my backpack clean so I needed something to keep the dust and stuff off my computer. I promptly put the computer in and thats where it stay until about 7 minutes ao when I needed to take it out to upload photos. The notebooks are hard cover and have lyrics from my favourite band, U2, on it. Paulina must have crawled inside my head cause she picked two of my fave songs too. She even covered them, very well might I add, with clear tape so they stay tidy! The pencil case is the perfect size; just big enough for a few pens and a highlighter. Since I use the laptop I onlt bring a few pens and I am forever losing them in the bottom of my massive purse. And the earring holder is adorable! She even made little matching roses! Here's an action shot (Sorry for the blurriness)

I haven't hung it on the wall yet, so it's just sort of hanging from my little vanity shelf using thumbtack perviously used t0 hold necklaces. But as soon as I get to walmart I'll get some hooks and hang it permenently.

Thanks 6iggle! You're an awesome partner!  I love it all!
