Wow, I am super impressed with the crafty swaps thus far!  They surely have put to shame anything I would've made had I not dropped outta the swap.

I have been doing Lolita style Hallowe'en costumes for the past 4 years now, so I figured I'd go at it again this year, but this is the first time I added a bit of a horrific twist.  Last Halloween I got some prosthetics  for my roommate, and she never used them.  So I still have a burn scar/gouged/shredded kits.  I used the shredded kit to get the effect of a bear claw tearing my tender faceflesh to bits!  I've never used prosthetics before and didn't even have everything I needed to pull it off (read: spirit gum), but with more practice I'm sure I can get it to eventually look better.

I made the dress, bow, and capelet.  I didn't use a pattern for any of it.  I love the capelet, though the shoulders are a little too puffy/misplaced.  I would have used blood gel on my face, but because I actually would wear this outfit in a non-costume/Hallowe'en situation, I didn't want to get it stained.  The gauze fabric I got at Hancock, which was really cool and 99c a yard and figured would add to the look.  Of course when Saturday rolled around and I wanted to tie on my capelet, the blasted ribbons completely shredded!  Oh well, I used a safety pin...

I entered a costume contest with a friend (who got a LOT of attention dressing as Lady Gaga hehe) and apparently TIME and SKILL and EFFORT are not aspects of a costume a drunken crowd of judges appreciates! =\

I'm so sorry my partner and I had to drop outta the swap.  I suppose i can tell you what I was going to make...

I was going to craft a Macbook cozy/carrier--one side styled like Daria's Green Coat/Orange shirt, and the other side with Jane's Red Overshirt/Black shirt.  It was gonna be really cool!  Then I was gonna make an ipod holder in tiger stripe--like Jane's failed "Lady and the Tiger" hairstyle.  I was going to make something else but hadn't figured out what it would be, hah.

Can't wait to see the results!

On Sept 19 I had a really great photoshoot with Lone Wolf Studios, a husband-wife duo.  I brought along my assistant and his daughter, who ended up being my wardrobe helper Smiley  We met up at a park, and I got to hang around in the kids' huge jungle gym, but trying to shoot around children is quite difficult and patience-trying x_x

This Fawn dress I made a few months ago and just absolutely love it.  I got the fabric from superbuzzy.com

I was balancing on something about ten feet off the ground.  Thankfully I didn't fall off!

Unfortunately I'm too tall for playgrounds  Embarrassed

Then we moseyed on over to the graveyard right next door (strange placement...jungle gym...graveyard, makes sense!!!!not really) in a dress I made for myself for Christmas 2007.  This is my favorite photo of me. of.all.time.  I look good doing couture pose!

She'd brought some props, too, so we got some interesting shots with a lantern, though the effect in daylight isn't the same:

My assistant's daughter first noticed this tree after we thought we were done shooting, but we just HAD to get a shot of this creepy tree!  It was on an incline, so I nearly broke my ankles trying to sit/get up  Undecided

I <3 my blue hair....AND we got to see a Blue Heron on the river!  I've never seen one in person before, and then it flew around for a while.  HUGE BIRD.

I thought the rose garden was very Alice in Wonderlandy

Down at the quasi-beach.  So beautiful.

This is one of my favorite shots from the photoshoot, too.

I have a photoshoot coming up on Oct 17 with a girl in Dubuque, IA and I am VERY excited!  It's going to be a wacky weekend (first weekend trip with the new boyfriend...)!  Comments and critiques very much appreciated!
