2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / wrist warmers knit on color pencils :) on: January 28, 2008 10:48:35 AM
Normally I wouldn't use color pencils to knit but I left my DPN in my desk at work. ( I work at a school ) And of course it's a snow day... What better day to be crafty.
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Knit cap with Brim and Rasta hat (Image Heavy) on: November 22, 2007 11:12:20 AM
These are my first successful hats.  In the past they've either been "humongulas"  or too small.   I half followed a pattern and half BS it.  My son in the Rasta hat has way too much hair for anything in the stores to even try to accommodate.... wild curly  and past  his shoulders.  I'm surprised he actually tucked it all in there  Smiley    My other son loves brim caps, and aren't they always better made with love from Mama.  hahaha  Cheesy
4  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Space shoes on: March 10, 2007 07:17:51 PM
I bought two pair of shoes at wally world to screen print for my son's birthday....and well I didn't quite make the deadline.  I decided to start on them today...and I scraped the screen print idea...might be tough.
So I just busted out some paint and sharpies...He loves them.  Now I just have to figure out what to put on the other pair....

6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Completed Projects / First multi color and multi screen shirt- Abe Sapien on: January 26, 2007 08:24:21 PM
Here's my first attempt at a multi color shirt.  I used 3 screens...probably should have been 4...but it worked.  Not perfect but my boys love it, and that's what matters most.
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Screen printing and Photo emulsion Kinda Tutorial (Image Heavy) on: January 14, 2007 04:20:47 PM
Ok...I thought I would just start this on a fresh post...  Here are the pictures I said I'd post

Photo emulsion fluid....I use a recipe I found on the web.

I bought the Potassium Dichromate at a clay arts center.  It's kinda this orange crystally powder.
You just mix with water and then with elmer's school glue.  Really quite easy.  I then spread it on my screen with a squeegie (work in a dimly lit room, a little light doesn't seem to affect it) and let dry (I speed up the drying process with a regular old fan...no heat.)
While the screen is drying I print or draw my design on a transparency...when  the screen is completely dry I place the screen down on a dark surface...(I use a black pillowcase... )this prevents the light from bouncing around.  Then place transparency on the screen and and a piece of glass ( I use glass from a picture frame)  on the transparency...this keep it good and flat.  Then I place a photo  halogen bulb (bought at the photo store) about 1 foot above the frame.  Turn on the bulb and let sit for about 10 mins.... Then take to the sink and rinse with room temperature water....it takes a minute but then it starts to wash away everything that was black on the transparency.... keep rinsing til your happy with it.    Let screen dry....I fan again...then it is ready to print.

Have fun printing Grin
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cloth Napkins = New bag on: January 11, 2007 10:01:22 PM
I had some scraps from cloth napkins... and well I've been wanting to make a bag out of them for a while.  I just finally found the time.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Funky shirt on: January 10, 2007 04:33:25 PM
I was snowed in today....so what better to do.  Get out the sewing machine...I'm not great with the whole sew straight and use a pattern thing.  I just cut, sew and hope for the best.
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First decent hat on: December 30, 2006 08:48:22 PM
A friend of mine taught me the basics to knitting...but I never managed to pull off more than a scarf...and definitely not a decent hat.  I could never get the sizing right.  Someone gave me and gift card and I bought a set of those knitting looms.and heres my first hat that Im not embarrassed ofEven though its kinda cheating Wink
