11  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: "Vintage" Skull Shirt on: February 23, 2008 09:44:56 PM
Thanks Ladies.  I love taking something old and making it new.  I got the fabric at Joanns a few months back.  I think they have a more traditional camo skull fabric too.

Those are all adorable.  I especially love the green & black dress and owl shirt.  Great job!
13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / 50's Valentine's Day shirt on: February 12, 2008 05:03:39 PM
Another vintage pattern, modern fabric shirt.  The last button is a little wonky but overall I'm very pleased with how it came out.  There are no hearts per se but the fabric colors and the candy pattern scream Valentine's Day to me.

The word "vintage" is in quotation marks because I'm pretty sure that there weren't any ladies' skull shirts around back in the 50's.  But there should have been!  The pattern I made this from is authentically 50's.  The fabric, not so much.
15  New York / New York: NYC and Long Island / NYC Craft Supply Store on: January 29, 2008 05:57:32 PM
Perhaps this has been mentioned before but I didn't see anything posted.  I just discovered a store, which on retrospect I should have thought of ages ago.  There's a bookstore/supply store right next to FIT which has a great general selection of crafting items and professional books.  I bought a design book which I guess is a class textbook but they have a whole room of pattern making materials, thread, and assorted notions.  Granted Joanns has more but as we all know that there isn't one here, I found this place to be very convenient.  I don't know the name but it's located on 27th and 8th.
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Tattoo Psychobilly Maori coolness hand embroidered... on: January 16, 2008 07:23:02 PM
That's a wonderful piece of stitching you've got there.  I'm super impressed!

I'd love to check out the artist's page.  I'm already a member of Inkednation.

I'm almost positive I saw a pattern like the first one from either McCalls or Vogue.  I think I have it and I'll post the number if I can find it.
18  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Discussion and Questions / Re: Overcritical or Oversensitive? on: January 02, 2008 04:31:37 PM
Unless your SO is Tim Gunn or Marc Jacobs, I wouldn't let his critique bother you.  Things might start out a little rough but it won't take years to get it just right.  Be proud that you made your first of many pieces of clothing, not everyone can learn how to sew.

Grin That is ten times of awesomeness.  I definitely gave you a "this rocks" because it does.
