1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Re: Tiger's Eye bead embroidery bracelet on: March 07, 2014 09:52:42 PM
For this piece I used a very thick felt and then a faux suede type fabric beneath so it is soft on the skin.  For my other pieces, I used the faux suede as a base and then used more faux seude beneath.  I am really torn on which I prefer but the felt eliminated the way my beading kept buckling and overlapping.  But my sisters voted that they like the thinness of the fabric ones, so... I am not sure which I prefer.  Smiley  the felt is much easier to work with.

Here is my latest bead embroidery creation. This bracelet is 7" long and 1.5 " wide. The middle piece is a giant Tiger's Eye cabochon surrounded by Toho seed beads.  The curved parts became a bit wonky, but Im still proud of it. Smiley  hope you like it too !

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Comic book bracelet ! on: February 08, 2014 05:53:20 AM
My sister's roommate asked me to make him a comic book bracelet of his favorite comic 'Dead Pool' (which was a tiny bit gross because blood skeeves me out) and I fully embraced the challenge.  I had some small pre-drilled dominoes I got on clearance!(yay!) At Hobby Lobby. He gave me some of his comic books to cut up and I had a hole punch that cut rectangles just a bit smaller than the Dominoes so I tried to find images that werent too gross and looked cool on their own. Then I used Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (my lover) to give them a nice coating and dimension !   After that I tried a bunch of different ways to put them together but everything looked pretty feminine so I settled on hemp crossed through nuts?  I can never remember what they are called... but I think its nuts.  And i ended with jump rings and a big claw clasp that wasnt on yet in the picture.

Plus side: he loved it and has had a bunch of people ask where he got it.

Down side: he does a lot of dishes at work and he doesnt take it off so it gets water logged.  Ive had to redo it a few times as the hemp just turns to mush after a while.

Plus side again:  the dimensional magic holds up fairly well to water. It got a bit dull and kind of misshapen but I only reapplied it once in the past six months and it looks like it has a lot of character.

Whew! Hope you like it !

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bead embroidery pendant no. 2 on: February 08, 2014 05:26:42 AM
I swear this is my last one for a bit ! Smiley  One more embroidery pendant / necklace that was a gift for another sister

This necklace is quite heavy but the back is smooth and flat and it is a soft faux seude.

Thank you for looking !
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Bead Embroidery pendant - classy green on: February 08, 2014 05:16:53 AM
Here is a necklace that I made for one of my sister's for Christmas. My goal was to make 20 pins or pendants before I tackled a bracelet , but I only made it about halfway.  I have learned a lot. About bead embroidery through trial and error and if anyone has any questions Id be happy to help

Sorry about the quality of the picture. It looksvery elegant and sparkly in person (the edging has bronze crystals - not sure if they are swarovski or not - but still really pretty.
