Great wonky log cabins!  Love the colours!

I'm having issues with the colours on my quilt.  This is on the design wall right now.  Full advice-seeking post with details here:

The quilt so far:

I guess the big thing is this is my first full size quilt, and I wanted to be wowed by the colours, and I'm not sure.  Maybe after a night's sleep...

22  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Not sure about the colours... opinions wanted! on: March 05, 2011 04:42:39 PM
I am not sure about my quilt.  I need some help/opinions.
I am not sure about the colours.  I love colour, and I am using Anna Maria Horner's little folks voiles.  I bought a bunch of fabrics I loved from the line, many greens and yellows, and reds and pinks.  I thought they looked good together, but now I'm not so sure.  I think it may be a bit too deep mustardy overall.  I have more fabric I can cut - should I cut more reds and pinks, and take out the mustardy colour?  Maybe I need to sleep on it?  Thoughts?  Please be honest! (right now it's just wonky rectangles sticking on their own to batting on the wall)

See the really deep mustardy colour near the top right corner (the block with white stripes down it)?  That's the one I'm not sure about.

I think it looks better on the computer than on the wall...
Maybe the burnt orange wall colour isn't helping.  The quilt will go in a light green room.

I would appreciate any feedback you can give me!  Thanks!

silvermoon - great dragon!  Very envious of the recipient!

aliasgracie - I love all your stuff!  What did you pour the melted wax into, cookie cutters?  I've wanted to do recycled crayons.  And I hope the weather changes for you soon - I taught in northern ontario years ago and did yard duty at -47 with windchill, so I feel your pain!

waggonswest - love the blessing!  Celtic and painful, i think i found something my husband would love!

kwiltykate - great mug rug!  I'm a big fan of wonky quilting!

I'm so excited!  Thank you quilting gods and goddesses!
At 5:30 in the morning when my teething 5 month old has me up for a long day of crankiness (his and mine), this is wonderful news!

Thanks for the compliments!  What motivation!  I need to comment and post more often!

Troublet, I didn't see my auto-corrected name - you must have edited it!  No worries!

March theme should be easy, with a demanding toddler who has a birthday this month!  I think a crafty cake for her is even on my list, not sure if that counts...

I just checked and I missed the February challenge Sad
I'm posting anyway with some things I made this month!

I finished some mini art quilts for the dining room:

And finally made the 2010 family Christmas ornament (there are 4 of us now!  I had a boy in September!)

And a dress for my daughter:

She likes it a lot, despite what her face is saying here...

I hope to check in more often to scope out everyone's projects!

Quilts as art.  How did you hang them?

I hand-sewed a channel on the back and put a piece of dowel through it.  Then I sewed a short loop in the centre of the channel, just below the top of the quilt.  Then we put a monkey hook through the wall, and hung it on that.  A bit of overkill since the monkey hook can hold 50 pounds, but they`re so easy to use!  Invisible hanging!

Thanks! A blank wall was very motivating!  Off to work on my first full-size quilt!
