1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Magazine Planter? on: June 26, 2009 01:03:55 PM
I haven't posted any of my projects here. I usually just lurk and gawk at everyone elses amazing work, but anyways...I saw someone else create a waste basket out of magazines and I thought I'd give it a try since I have the summer off and its quiet.

The end product ended up being more than likely something that would fit a house plant.
It looks smaller than it actually is in the pictures. It's about 12" in diameter and could easily fit one of those palm tree house plants. In its pot of course since its not water proof Smiley

anyways, on to the pictures

2  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / picture frames?!?! on: July 18, 2008 06:11:48 PM
 Huh Huh Huh
I dont know if this is the right spot for this but I'll give it a shot. its sort of Backwards from what this forum is for.

I need something that I can make a picture frame OUT of. aside from wood and the obvious old picture frame.

what can i use?

any tutorials around for using recycled objects to make a frame out of.

reason being, I made my boyfriend a picture and he's been out of town for 7 days and comes back home tomorrow. I want to frame the picture nicely instead of handing him a piece of paper. but Ive searched high and low in my house and my creative brain isnt working well enough to figure out something that could become a picture frame.

give me some ideas, ladies (and gents if there is any Smiley ) Undecided Undecided
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / I know you crafty craftsters will have some ideas.... on: June 06, 2008 08:04:13 PM
Hey crafters,

Im wondering where i could get some type of metalworking/silversmithing starter kit? online preferably. havent found anything by google searching but i figure some of you metal workers might now where i can look.

I do already have some tools, but i would really like to just get a big ol' kit of the things i need to get me started this way i dont have to run around 100 different places to get all the things i still need.

also, it will be my first time ever making metal jewelry and Im very excited. my mom went to college for jewelry making (i know weird college career huh?) so Im stoked. but shes sold some of her jewelry making materials so i need to refresh everything!!
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Hat halp! on: December 22, 2007 10:47:36 PM
okay... this is literally my first week knitting. Ive been working on a scarf all week (its still not done, but its close.) anyways, i really want to make a hat cause I love hats and also my boyfriend is a snowboarder, so you cant ever have too many hats. (we share)

my question is: can you please link me to some hats that would be good for a beginner. ESPECIALLY if they have really really dumbed down instructions. I can read a pattern but the easier the better, so that i dont get too frustrated. I do know how to knit and purl stitch, and I can figure out the other stitches with knittinghelp, but Im feeling overwhelmed with all the patterns I've looked at so I figured maybe one of you experts might be able to guide me to a good starter hat. (also i like hats with ear flaps but maybe thats too hard for beginners?)

Thanks guys! Smiley happy howlidays from my mutts!

I had a dremel tool that was my boyfriends but he took it with him sooooo now i need to use something else. can i melt a hole through it or something? haha. i dont know. help would be appreciated. i have regular drills but i dont think i have anything small enough to create a small hole. so uhhh... help?!?!?!

i hope this is a good spot for this.

anyways. i remember making them when i was little and have seen some versions of them. isnt it just a matter of glue on one part nad then roll with a pencil?? I cant seem to remember how they are made.

and i tried searching for magazine beads and paper beads and only one was realitive to my search but didnt really help with my question.

any advice would be great. Cheesy thanks.
