thank you everyone for such sweet comments. the nursery has become a place that i love to spend time in with my baby. i love sitting in the chair and reading him stories. he is always looking around at all the fun and colorful things around.

the nursery was recently featured on ohdeedoh.com thought i would share it with you:

this is absolutely beautiful. such a simple concept and you pulled it off so wonderfully. i'd be so proud to show this off in my home. Smiley

pjherbert: thank you!

la la laurrenn: thanks. hubby and i really love the name sonny. it took awhile for us to settle on a name and this one just stuck. Smiley

Cakie: i thought about the transition into a "big boy" room after the paint had gone up. though i still think it's a baby color...maybe i could accent with a chocolate brown or something more boyish once he gets older. thanks!

polaris082411: Smiley thank you!

sew.sweet.chic: i definitely didn't want it to be too theme-y or all monochromatic. the stripes helped break up the overly aqua-ness. Smiley it took a long time for me to come up with everything. i tried to make it a little less traditional...glad you like it!

wanderlust: thank you. we're enjoying our time with him. Smiley

pinklrt: i was between 3 different aquas! haha. glad you liked how it turned out. thank you

pennylane1084: i like the asymmetrical layout of the shelves, name, and picture above the crib too. i saw these cute felt letters at joann and couldn't resist! thank you!

wendy-bird: thanks!

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: I Will Be Eaten By This Shark on: April 20, 2008 06:43:10 AM
very original. the splitting of the images between the frames really make this piece what it is. i love it. had to say i immediately wanted to check out your site afterwards. i love the colors and simplicity of the work, but there seems to be so much more in the subject... wonderfully done. Smiley
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: colorful wrist clutches on: April 07, 2008 02:25:19 PM
Atouria: i actually just made them myself. i purchased 9" zippers and just approximated the size and went at it! that's usually how i sew. it's very random, but i end up having a lot more fun doing it that way. Smiley

madfishmonger: yea i really like the look of the hook/clasp. they were really easy to work with too! which is always a plus.

Doodleabby: the zippers weren't bad at all!! especially when it's such a simple design. i finished all five yesterday afternoon. cnce i got a nice rhythm down i was able in finish them pretty quickly. it was sad to split them up and wrap them because i felt so accomplished after seeing them all in a row! haha

cknaus65: thank you! i've had the fabrics in my stash for so long..it was nice to put them to good use!

Mocosa: thanks!

genislaughter: they are felt circles that i free-motion stitch my initials on. i wanted to get professional tags made for a long time...but realized, why waste the money? they just look more handmade this way, anyway. Smiley

hotfudge: thank you! i was hoping it was one up from just a thank you card.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / colorful wrist clutches on: April 07, 2008 06:16:28 AM
a group of friends threw a beautiful baby shower for me a few weeks back and i really didn't know how to thank them. i thought...a card definitely isn't enough, so i decided to make something for each of them.

this is my first attempt at using the loop/hook clasp and it makes the bags look a lot more professional! i'm going to have to buy more. they are just simple zipper pouches, but i added cotton quilt batting to each so they hold their shape a lot better. the lining on each one matches the fabric of the handles.

they were fun to make and i'm really pleased with how they turned out. i'll be giving them off today! i hope the girls find some good use for them. Smiley

i found felt letters at joann and purchased each of their first initials to "finish" and personalize each purse.

here they are all together!

thanks for looking. Smiley

You've done an incredible job.  Everything looks picture perfect.  Stunning and a wonderful place to bring your newborn.
(early congrats.)

oh, thank you so much. i'm really starting to feel a lot more relaxed about being ready for him to be here. Smiley thanks again.
