1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / stress-free room on: June 21, 2005 08:39:26 AM
hey kids,

my friend and i just moved in to our very own apartment (aww) and we're lucky enough to have a spare room. we were trying to figure out what to do with it (it has a futon couch/bed and an antique-looking dresser), and decided to make it a tranquil, stress-free zone. what better for two overworked, anxious college students?

any ideas for ladies on a budget? so far we've thought to scour goodwill for tea sets, get tons of tea, votive candles, pretty scrap fabric in cool colors to line the walls... what else? your help is very much appreciated.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / tube top style reconstructions on: August 30, 2004 06:39:31 AM
just a few things i made the other day. the oberlin shirt is basically the same deal as my best friend did here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=8429.0. except hers is better. the red shirt was a tube top i made from an old turtleneck. i added bra straps from an old bra, and made a tulle flower for it.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / rock and roll ladies - on pillows! on: August 24, 2004 08:30:24 PM
i was thinking of creative/cheap ways to decorate my room in the house i'm moving into (no more dorms! yesss), and came up with this. i picked up some super-cheap throw pillows at ikea, and slapped on some stencils and strategically placed buttons.

left to right: karen o, bjork, and emily haines. i also made one of kathleen hanna, but it got kind of messed up, so i think i'm just going to flip it over and stencil debbie harry on the other side Smiley

let me know what you think!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / miniskirt from a slip on: August 20, 2004 08:20:52 PM
i made this skirt out of knee-length slip for my friend. she's the one modeling it here - enviable size 0. sigh.

anyway, very simple reconstruction, but i thought it was quite cute.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / INSANE skirt on: August 02, 2004 08:10:04 PM
i don't know what's wrong with me. this skirt is really fucking weird. but i actually kind of like it, and at least it's not like everything else that people are wearing.

my mom gave me this really unflattering pair of too-big tapered (UGH) silver pants, so i whipped up this little number with *cough* just a bit of tulle....

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Stereophonics Reconstructed Tank Top on: July 29, 2004 12:47:57 PM
This was an old long-sleeved pajama-type top that was a bit too tight for me in the sleeves (and looked kind of silly anyhow). I hacked it up and added a stencil, which I think turned out really well.

Hehe, I just noticed that one of my kitties is in the background, here.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / armwarmers, chokers, wristbands, oh my! on: July 20, 2004 05:17:06 PM
ok, these are all very lame but i am still going to post about them, dammit!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / green boa! on: July 13, 2004 01:54:42 PM
this is sinfully simple, but i really like it.

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / *UPDATED* neato uneven dress from dad's old t-shirts on: July 13, 2004 01:53:01 PM
please pardon my ugly legs, the blurriness, and the weird bunched up fabric in one of the pictures. it doesn't actually look like that. if i am not too lazy i will try to get better pictures, these just really didn't turn out well.

i am planning on adding a stencil or two (probably of sleater-kinney) and i am debating whether or not to put navy t-shirt strip bows onto the sleeves. any other bells-and-whistles ideas?

okay, i added the stencil, here it is:

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / 3-part dress design... thoughts? on: June 30, 2004 09:39:50 AM
i really want to make a dress, but i am lazy and i want it to be a) really simple and b) flattering.
i have really prominent curves, so i figured i could make a 3-piece kind of dress so that it would fit better to my figure (instead of one piece where it would stretch all funny and maximize the ol' T&A).

i drew this up really quickly. does it look like it would work?
