1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Vampire/Vampyre Swap Round 2 Gallery on: July 06, 2010 02:03:40 PM
I just received my awesome swap package from Rainya!

She sent me a cool purse made out of a hard back cover of Eclipse, a keychain with three vials containing "Holy Water, Liquid Silver, and Vampire Blood," a wooden jewelry box featuring a painted vampire bite graphic, a smaller keychain with vampire themed key words, and my favorite part of all... Sigmund! an amigurumi stuffed penguin...because I collect stuffed penguins just like Anita Blake.

Thank you, lady! I love everything, especially Sigmund!

Here's my loot:

One last shot of the book cover/purse:

I'm gonna go cuddle with Sigmund now!

Thanks again, Rainya!

I cannot believe that's your first Poppet!  I mean, you did your own modifications and everything - he's amazing!

Thanks everyone!  I can't take total credit for the poppet modifications. I found a tutorial for the abs by teag at this thread: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=329077.0

I just modified it to fit ghilie's poppet pattern because I figured Jean Claude would be more slender than teag's poppet was.

The abs weren't that hard. I sewed them on the machine. I think the most trouble i had was getting his eyelids glued on in the right place and figuring out how to joint his arms and legs...that and trying to make pants that fit over his enormous feet!

I'm so glad you liked your package, Rainya!

This was the first time I had made a Poppet, but I took the challenge!  I'm glad Jean Claude made it safely to you! I hope he wasn't too grouchy after being cooped up in a box for several days!

Now I just have to make it to the post office during their wacky hours.

Phew! Things are finally in motion.  Had a major stall when we had to have our dog to the vet twice in one week and money for craft supplies totally flew out the window!  We got attacked by a loose dog while going for a walk...but we're okay now and almost all healed up.

Now that vet bills are over with, I'm back in action!

1 projects done, 2nd project half way and I'm going to work on the final project this weekend.

Time sure flies when you're swapping!

Another Eastern Shore Craftster here.  I'm a sort of gothic, quirky, belly dancer, artist and writer trying to get by in Salisbury.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Rectangular Candy/Candle/Soap Mold source? on: March 04, 2009 06:47:16 AM
I am desperately looking for a rectangle shaped mold of the flexible variety, preferably made of food safe materials. Even better would be a rectangular mold with slightly rounded corners. I'm thinking somewhere along the size of 3.5" x 2.5" and at least .25" deep.  I am trying to make edible playing cards for a birthday cake.

I would have posted this in the food section, but I figured there are folks in candle-making, soap-making, etc who might also be familiar with a mold source that might work...

I'd even take suggestions for easily making your own mold.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Pocket Help! on: December 03, 2008 01:23:11 PM
Help!  I want to make a sort of utility belt for a costume I'm working on, and I'd like it to have pockets like these: http://ny-image0.etsy.com/il_430xN.46414336.jpg

If the link doesn't work, it's a pocket that's 3D and stands out from the surface of the belt/bag/whatever, with a flap that folds over the top and snaps closed.

I have no idea what this kind of pocket is called or how to construct it.

Anyone know of any tutes or patterns I could use or even what this type of pocket is called?

Thanks for the photos and suggestions!
10  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Fairy Wings with Corset/Harness? on: July 22, 2008 10:50:31 AM
I'm planning a pair of fairy wings for a costume, and I'd like to make the sort that slip down your back beneath a corset so they look like they're sprouting from your back. I want to avoid having to wear straps over my shoulders.

I've seen these things all over the web, but I'm not sure exactly how to construct the part that slides down beneath the corset.

Example: http://www.enchantedcostumes.com/bmz_cache/2/226bb8d53d2405b448290067bb46a28b.image.550x550.jpg

Anyone ever make a pair like this? Have any suggestions for what the harness should look like?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!
