hey i've been looking everywhere and i can't seem to find cute recipe cards...i've tried book stores, craft stores, target, halmark, and even a bed bath and beyond...i found a site online that had some cute ones but the stire seemed a little shady and i'm a little hesitant to give them my credit info...

any ideas on where i could fimd some? I'm not looking to make them as the project of organizing my recipies will be a big enough chore:)

thanks bunches for any help you can give me! Cheesy
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / ok...see if you can figure this out...i'm lost on: October 20, 2005 02:39:19 AM
so i got this pattern for a knit afgan and it goes a little something like this...

here's a cluster that the majority of the thing is made of and i have no idea how to do it

P3tog leaving stitches on Left Hand needle, yo, purl same 3 sts tog.

what the heck?

if i purl them together the first time and leave them on the L needle and then yo won't i just be undoing what i just did?  I very confused...i tried looking around sitch dictionaries to see if i could find an explanation...but no luck

can anyone help?
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / afghan o' doom...aka high flying colors on: June 15, 2005 11:36:35 AM
so i'm dying to make an afghan so i bought a book (Knit Afghans of Many Colors) that has all these patterns for afghans to make with all the scrap yarn you have lying around...i actually went out and bought more yarn...but hey who could help themselves?  Wink

ok so here's the problem...i can't understand the pattern...

it requires me to cas on 206 sts onto size 9/ 29-inch circular needles (so far so great)

here's where i'm confused...

it says to slip all stitches as to purl...so does that mean i bring the yarn in front before i slip the stitch as if i was going to purl a stitch?  I think this is what they intended, but that causes another problem...on one row after such a slipped stich, it asks me to bring the yarn to the back before i knit the next stitch, but on the row before it doesn't ask me to bring the yarn to the back...does that mean i'm supposed to knit a stitch with the yarn in front?

i'm still getting the hang of this knitting thing....please help if this makes any sense to you

thanks! Grin
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / i've got an itch to make a blanket... on: May 14, 2005 09:58:37 PM
i was wondering if anyone had knitted a blanket...all the nifty afghan patterns are never for knitting...and i have yet to conquet the hook (quite frankly it scares me...i guess i'm just comfortable with knitting and hesitant to learn something new)

if you have made a blanket or two i would love to know how you did it and how long it took...plus if you have a picture that would be super!  i'm also having a hard time choosing a color pattern for the darn thing...but i'm dying to get started!!!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Why are sewing patterns so lame? on: May 15, 2004 12:20:56 AM
So I've been looking like crazy lately for cool cute sewing patterns, since I've just learned to sew and I'm really not finding a whole lot.  I've found a bunch of cute dresses, but that's about it.  I want to make something chic...not draw string pants and a matching boxy vest!  Even the juniors stuff is so out of style it was never in...what is a fashionista to do?

Does anyone know where I can find some truly inspiring patterns so I can sew my self a new wardrobe? Cheesy
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I need a pattern for a pretty poncho on: February 21, 2004 01:04:58 PM
Hi...I've been looking for a nice knitting pattern for a poncho, but haven't really found one that strikes my fancy.  I want it to be more chic than shabby.  So far I have found a lot of patterns for ones with fringe and pom poms but that's not really for me.

I want it to be sort of lacy looking with a wide neck opening so a little of my shoulders will show...if that makes sense.  I'm still too new to knitting to think up a pattern of my own...can anyone help?

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I'm in a binding bind! on: January 15, 2004 04:11:50 PM
hi! I just started learning to knit today with the Stich 'n bitch book (which I LOVE by the way).  I'm having trouble understanding the section on binding.

the book says to knit two stitches and then stick the tip of the left needle under the front of the first stitch...then it says to pull the first stitch over the second and then let it drop off the tip of the right needle

QUESTION:  does that mean that the first stitch stays on the left needle since the left needle slid under the first stitch before?  And if it does stay on do I start with that stitch when making my next two stitches in order to continue binding?

I hope this wasn't too confusing... Grin  I don't know anyone who knits so if you all could help me get past this little bump in the road I would really appreciate it!

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / looking for vintage buttons on: January 12, 2004 12:22:17 PM
hi my lovely crafties!  I'm on a hunt for some vintage buttons like the ones seen in the last ready made magazine and the ones they made earrings with at good-together.com...but after scouring a few local antique stores I came up with squat!  I thought they would be easier to find!  Any suggestions..I'm making a small clutch that I want to cover with them and then I plan to make matching jewelry...help!
