1  Harry Potter baby blanket in Quilting: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: December 01, 2013 03:09:21 PM
My dear friend and running partner is getting ready to have a baby girl.  We both share a huge love of Harry Potter so I decided to make her a Harry Potter bookshelf baby blanket to welcome the new baby.  The quilt was made with patterns from fandominstitches.com (best fandom patterns ever).  Her baby shower is next weekend and I hope she loves it as much as I do.  Parts of the binding turned out a little wonky, but I'm still happy with it

2  Minecraft Shoes in Shoes: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: October 15, 2013 07:56:51 AM
My nine year old niece is in love with minecraft, so I started crafting for Christmas early and just finished her some shoes.  Luckily they are just squares,  which is good because my painting skills are sadly lacking.  Special thanks to Chughes225 for the painting tips before I started.

3  Re: IYP 23: Summer Do Si Do GALLERY!! in The Swap Gallery by lynnie71 on: June 13, 2013 06:02:34 PM
I received today from Chughes225 and I'm in love with everything she sent!

First she sent two cell phone cases for my new phone!  They are perfect.

She also sent a hand painted Gryffindor bag!  The bag is sooo very pretty and has some great pockets on the inside.  It is just the right size and will be getting some use soon.

And lastly she sent a pair of HP shoes!!  Look at those bad boys are the fabulous or what!  I love the Hogwarts at night theme and they have such great detail in them...do you see the pumpkins and the car?  My 8 year old has the same size feet as me and he is giving them the eye...poor deluded child, those are mine.    Thank you so much Chughes...I adore it all.

4  Silk Harry Potter Scarf in Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: January 08, 2013 07:30:56 AM
I have been having some fun silk painting and decided to make a Harry Potter scarf for a friend.  It is only my second silk painted project (and the first was very forgiving for mistakes).  I love how it turned out except for Harry's glasses.  Ugh.  They are a little wonky.  I made it for a friend, but since I don't like the glasses I think I will make her a different one...not sure what I'll do with this one.  The background I decided to give it a batik kind of look so when the paint was wet you put salt on it.  My kids loved that part.

On the stretcher with salt on it.

Close up of the sorting hat.

The whole thing.

5  Handpainted Silk Butterfly Wings in Costumes: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: January 06, 2013 08:22:11 AM
For Christmas I wanted to make my niece some silk butterfly wings for her to play dress up with.  I found a tutorial on how to make some adorable tie dyed butterfly wings, but I decided I wanted hers to look like a monarch butterfly.  So, after watching about 10 hours of youtube videos on how to paint on silk I ordered the supplies and gave it a go.  For my first try I think they turned out nice.  There are definitely things I would do different, but she likes them and that is all that matters.  I don't have a picture of her playing in them yet.  They were lots of fun to do and my boys (8 and 4) got to help paint them.  Boys rock, but sometimes it is nice to take a break from lego, star wars, and car crafts and do something girly Smiley

The tutorial I followed for making the wings:  http://thismamamakesstuff.com/2009/11/week-of-tutorials-silk-scarf-butterfly-wings/

Here they are traced, stretched and ready to be painted:

Some of the spots are done:

And finally completed:

6  Butter Beer Sugar Scrub in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: December 24, 2012 12:42:36 PM
Thanks to the fabulous advice from MareMare I was able to whip up a batch of Butterbeer Sugar Scrub for my sister for Christmas!  I found a cute online printable and a glass container from the store and Voila!

The best part is that the house smelled great after all of the mixing and butterscotch fragrance.   Grin

7  Cat Hat MEOW in Knitting: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: February 16, 2007 09:35:46 AM
Everyone needs a hat with cats on it right?  This was my first attempt at intarsia.  I like how it turned out considering I did it without a pattern and just kind of winged it.  Let me know what you think.

8  knit horse in Knitting: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: February 11, 2007 12:12:02 PM
Here is a knit stick horse that I made for my son for his 2nd birthday.  There are some things I would do differently, but he loves it and rides around the house on it (with his cowboy hat, bandana and badge too of course).  It is a lion brand yarn crochet patten that was converted to knit.  It was not too difficult to do but was a pain in the @*% to attach to the stick.  Let me know what you think

9  Trip around the world quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: December 24, 2006 05:45:47 AM
This is a quilt I made some time ago...my first and only queen size quilt...(all others have been baby quilts).  It took quite a while to make, but it was fun...my mother, grandmother and even my grandfather helped!

10  Ron Weasley Cell Phone Cosy in Knitting: Completed Projects by lynnie71 on: December 16, 2006 10:30:11 AM
I admit it...I am a huge Harry Potter fan...so as soon as I saw this I just had to do it...don't look too close at the picture I accidently sewed one of the sleeves on inside out...getting ready to rip it out as we speak (type)... I tried to post the picture in the topic, but it wouldn't work...hope the link works...

forgot to say I got the pattern at grittyknits.com!  great site
