Is that a beaded TARDIS? My, it looks like it could be larger on the inside?  Cheesy

Here is a picture a little truer to color for the back of Tabzilla's bookmark.

Not beaded, just cross stitched and then sewn to a jean pocket I had lying around.

Oh, oh, oh! Am I the first to post my craft?

DHfreak made this amazing pin cushion. I gave him eyes by adding pins.

This makes the long wait until next season a little easier. :-)

4  I didn't have time to finish my Victorian outfit in Halloween Costumes by LadyUranus on: November 06, 2011 12:48:48 AM
I didn't have enough time to finish my Victorian lady costume. So Victorian whore it was!

I'm rather pleased with it, actually. It was my first real corset!

The back of the corset.

Full back. (That's the chemise poking out of the top!)

A detail of the bloomers I made. (You can use this pattern to make your own-- http://www.coletterie.com/colette-patterns-news/free-pattern-to-download-the-madeleine-mini-bloomers)

Me looking dower with the full costume.

5  Re: Dresden Files Swap in The Swap Gallery by LadyUranus on: September 14, 2011 08:38:41 PM
Woohoo! You guys are gonna be super jealous, cause Dichotomy's swap was awesome.

The mailman kindly jammed it into my box, so I had to do an emergency mailbox-section to get it out...

First, the package is awesome:

And inside?

And inside the epic leather book-box:

First, some light switch covers:

A magic ring:

Bob beads!

At the bottom of the box is Dresden in a chair, very fitting for the inside of a book. Also included was some lovely tea packets and the book "Sandman Slim" since we took this opportunity to do an urban fantasy book swap as well!

Thanks, Dichotomy!

6  OMG, my boobs didn't fall out! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by LadyUranus on: September 08, 2011 11:00:38 PM
I had a wedding to go to over Labor Day but couldn't find a single dress to fit me. The very nice ladies at Sew LA (http://www.sew-la-fabric.com/) helped adjust the Collette Crepe Dress to fit my curves (you can buy the pattern here, it is pretty excellent and has great instructions http://www.sew-la-fabric.com/node/2135)

So, I have a dress! And it fits really well! The fabric is from the Paradise line from Art Gallery Fabrics.

(These are the best photos I have, hopefully I'll get more later.)

7  Re: Renaissance style men's jacket & short trousers - pattern help! in Costumes: Discussion and Questions by LadyUranus on: March 07, 2011 12:55:47 AM
I used this pattern: http://www.amazon.com/Simplicity-Sewing-Pattern-3677-Costumes/dp/B0040ZWDOW

I didn't do Doctor Who, but I did an almost identical outfit from the same general time period. You will need to do a different vest/waistcoat. The LACMA has some free historical patterns, if you're ambitious: http://www.lacma.org/art/ffpatterns.aspx

Here's what my outfit looked like, in the end (I'd suggest making the breeches much more fitted!)

10  Sleeves and neck on renaissance costume in Costumes: Discussion and Questions by LadyUranus on: October 21, 2009 12:29:03 AM
I am in need of some guidance. I made most of my renaissance dress but the neck is a mess and the sleeves that came with the pattern don't suit.

I was planning on making the neck lower and adding some of the skirt fabric to the top, so it looks like the skirt is a dress as well. I wanted to add cap sleeves.

Attached are three pics: (1) front, (2) back, (3) the unsuitable "finished" version I tried before.

My difficulty is coming from the neck being too high and the back being high-cut as well, which makes it hard to just cut a lower neckline.
