1  Re: Woodland Creature & Enchanted Forest Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by hoppy on: July 16, 2014 05:43:55 PM
I am a couple of days late posting the wonderful items moriarT sent me. She was a great swap partner and I am loving all of my new treasures!

First off, an adorable mushroom mug. She drew a variety of pretty purple mushrooms around the base of this mug. I used it for my chai tea today. Isn't it cute?

This is a terrible photo, my apologies. I asked for some art, and she made this adorable "goblin hideout." Inside it has moss and a little cage with teeny bottles of fairy dust. I love it!

I really love moths and other insects, so she also made this wonderful framed moth art. I have already found a perfect place for this one.

This one is out of focus, unfortunately.I took like 15 pics but the "macro" setting on my camera is pitiful at best.

An embroidered mushroom brooch! It is my favorite...such delicate stitching. Here it looks blue but is really shades of green.

A card with a cool photograph that moriarT took of the Rocklands Reservoir in Victoria. I really really like this photo! And the CUTEST little fox pen!!!! All mine!

She was also kind enough to send me a book set in an enchanted forest...this is next on my reading list!

MoriarT, I loved swapping with you and you are very talented. I really enjoyed participating in the swap and seeing the handiwork of so my awesome crafters!

2  Re: Beginners inchies 3 swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by hoppy on: May 04, 2012 07:19:58 PM
I received inchies from ErintheRed yesterday and Kimchery today...what a pleasure it was opening the envelope to find the tiny works of art they made for me! This has been one of my favorite swaps...thanks to Nilmerg and Kimchery for organizing! Now, on to the inchies.

These are from ErintheRed-aren't they wonderful?
Top row-beautiful cherry blossoms. I love the colors and I am so glad Erin included the branches, I think they add so much.
Second row-a charming ladybug and a cute little gerbil in my favorite colors!
And last but not least (my favorite in fact) a four-part amoeba/paramecium. Is this not awesome??? I love it and each one stands on its own if separated from the other pieces. So clever!

Next, the inchies I got from Kimchery:

Just look at these little creatures! I love insects, and these are so pretty-the picture can't capture the shimmer (Pearlex??) I love how the bee's wing goes outside the border, and the two-part caterpillar is amazing. The little squirrel and porcupine are so very cute, Kimchery Cheesy

She also sent some polymer clay ones as extras!

I think they are great..I love the glitter and the little jewels she attached.

Thanks for being such great swap partners, ErintheRed and Kimchery!

4  Re: Fabric Jewelry Swap GALLERY! Send by 12/15 in The Swap Gallery by hoppy on: December 11, 2011 07:05:15 AM
I am so excited to show everyone the lovely things EnginerdLisa sent me! She really did a great job of stalking me, I must say.

I am amazed at the fabric-covered beads she made...Lisa, can you share your secret? They are so perfect. She picked out the prettiest batik fabric in blues and purples (I love batiks!) This necklace is pure awesome.

And she send me EXTRA beads so I can have my crafty way with them!

She didn't stop there, but sent along some additional fabric, too. Aren't they pretty?

And all of this came in the most gorgeous zippered pouch that she made!

I have to say, that bag is nifty. Just the thought of trying to install a zipper that neatly make me want to run and hide. Well done!
EnginerdLisa, thank you for being such a great swap partner! I am almost finished with yours and hope you will like it too.

5  Re: Pen Pal Swap Round 3 Gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by hoppy on: December 02, 2011 04:22:04 PM
I am totally late posting this, I got my package on Saturday.
We were totally into having a penpal in another country, but my letter never made it to Izzybee. I'm just glad our packages made it through! I really enjoyed reading her letter, and look at the super cute things she sent me!

She made a knitted envelope with my name on it for the letter she included!

It has a little bank on the back to keep the envelope closed..I think this is so clever, and I can't knit at all, so I am very impressed.

And she also included this little tile necklace with a cancelled flower stamp on it! I have already worn it.

Thanks for being such a patient swap partner, Izzybee-you are the best!
I am going to write another letter and cross my fingers this one gets to you Wink

7  Re: Vintage Halloween Swap Round 5 - Send by Oct 3rd in The Swap Gallery by hoppy on: October 05, 2011 04:53:15 PM
I got my package yesterday-so exciting! My partner, burstofpanties, totally spoiled me. Look at all of this goodness!

First is the amazing Day of the Dead mask..I love the designs and the flowers attached at the top-how cool is this?

Second is this incredible pennant banner..each pennant is different and made with beautiful halloween papers, front and back..

this one features some shiny spiders-don't you love the black ball fringe around the edges??

This one has a spooky raven..

..and this one has a cute jack-o-lantern (sorry about the glare.)

Look at these cute little skeleton clips! I had so much fun posing them.

And last but not least, a bag of little goodies: candy, cute vintage Halloween cards, a little cat that gets bigger in water, a ghost toy, and the sweetest little walking pumpkin man.

Burstofpanties, thank you so much for the beautiful package. It was a delight to open and I look forward to displaying your creations for years to come (except for the candy heh heh.) You are the best!

8  Newspaper charm necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hoppy on: September 21, 2010 12:38:51 PM
I have been really into paper mache lately, but I botched up one thing I was working on and had to scrap it. I got the idea to cut some small pieces out of the scraps and use them as charms in a necklace, because they were a nice thickness and could have holes punched etc. I painted them and covered in polyurethane, and covered a wooden disk with letters for the pendant. It is a little busy, I think, but hopefully still interesting.

9  Paper Mache pumpkins in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by hoppy on: September 05, 2010 02:56:33 PM
These are my first paper mache pieces, two little pumpkin lanterns. I got a lot of inspiration from www.stolloween.com, www.pumpkinrot.com and www.ghoulfriday.com-these people really love Halloween and make the most amazing Halloween art and share their paper mache tips. These lanterns are inspired by paper mache ones from the 1940s, and I have a few more I am working on-a devil, a ghoul and a ghost.

One started out as a balloon, which was covered with newspaper strips and glue, and the features were built up with claycrete and paperclay.  The other was built over a plastic bag stuffed with paper and more bags and then tied to resemble a pumpkin, with more newspaper, glue and papreclay. Both are finished with acrylic paints and sealer.

10  Klimt inspired necklaces in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by hoppy on: August 22, 2010 07:19:21 PM
My favorite painter is Gustav Klimt, and I have been wanting to make some jewelry inspired by his paintings for some time now. Originally I thought I would make beads with polymer clay, but I am still fairly new to polymer so this is still a work in progress. I hand painted some wooden beads, which are featured in these necklaces.  I love the burnt orange freshwater pearls in the second one, it was hard for me to actually use them (as opposed to hoarding them like a little treasure.)

What do you think?
